On July 10th, volunteers from Fjallraven and the Green Mountain Club (GMC) met at the Emily Proctor Trailhead to help carry up material for a new standing compost, or privy, for the Emily Proctor Shelter.

The Green Mountain Club is an organization founded in 1910 dedicated to protecting and maintaining the Long Trail. The Long Trail is one of the oldest trails in the United States, which extends 273 miles throughout the state of Vermont.

Our team of 6 volunteers carried 200 pounds of lumber up the 3.5 mile trail to the shelter and worked together to get across the varied terrain of mud, rocks, and river crossings. The hike went smoother than expected despite the extra weight we were hauling and was a great experience for Fjallraven to collaborate with the GMC! We are looking forward to sharing more experiences together in the future and keeping nature accessible for generations to come!

Make your very own flower crown in celebration of Midsommar. Materials needed: floral wire, floral tape, scissors, and some beautiful wildflowers and greenery.
Midsommar Night is the lightest of the year and was considered a magical night. After a winter of darkness, our Midsommar Celebration is a celebration of life, spent with close friends and family, enjoying the long day, summer sun and time together. In Sweden, people often begin the day by picking flowers and making flower crowns, which is a key component in the celebrations.
