People with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome are all too familiar with some of the wildest incidents that cause us pain. Something as simple as sneezing can lay us out because of our connective tissue issues. That's the story behind this die-cut vinyl EDS awareness sticker design. There's not really a story behind this "Life With Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome" design, I mean this sort of thing happens frequently for people with hypermobile EDS (hEDS). It doesn't seem to matter how we sleep or what type of pillow we use, our necks get into some weird angles and a lot of the time this leads to painful cricks or kinks that can last for hours. This sticker is hand made, printed, laminated, and cut in-house by me. Stop by my shop and help support a disabled-owned small business!

I'm not sure about others who have EDS and other connective tissue disorders, but when I need to move myself to get more comfortable, like if I'm sliding down a bed while trying to read or use my laptop, I'll use my hands and arms to sit up. The amount of times I've subluxed my shoulder or heard popping and snapping of the ligaments and joints is too many to count. And I know, when that happens, I'll be out of commission again. That's what this design is about, it shares these common issues so that more people can become aware of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and other chronic illnesses.

EDS Awareness Day 7 is “What does a “good day” mean to you?” I’d say nice weather and being able to sit comfortably with my dog Jack nearby. Being able to do the simple things without sudden pain from nowhere. Being able to enjoy life is very high in the list too.

May 4th was light it up day for EDS awareness month, as I’m a few days behind, this is me wearing an appropriately orange shirt. It’s a total coincidence that it has zebras on it, I bought it at the zoo a few years ago because I’m a zebra!
