You probably grew up hearing two versions of yourself.
One is what the world calls you.
American. Mexican. Foreigner.
The other is quieter, but more persistent.
It shows up in the way your parents speak at home.
In the food that never quite leaves your system.
In the small habits you didn’t realize were Filipino until someone pointed them out.
And then one day, you look at yourself and ask a question that doesn’t really have a clean answer.
Where do I actually belong?
The truth is, you don’t choose one. You carry both.
You move through spaces where you blend in, but never fully disappear.
You learn to adapt, but never fully detach. And somewhere in between, you start building your own version of what being Pinoy looks like.
Sometimes, it’s subtle. Sometimes, it’s something you wear.
If this feels familiar, you’re not the only one figuring it out.
Follow Tela Pinoy.
We’re building something for people who don’t need to choose.
