About Me
The seeds of inspiration for what eventually developed into SOHA were sown around seven years ago, while I was juggling children and family life in Oxford, England. Most of my time up until then had been taken up raising my four boys - SOHA enabled me to express my creativity in what was ultimately a male dominated household. You can now find beautiful bold prints, fine silks and sparkl
ing gems dispersed between mountains of football boots, bikes and action men in my family home! My first steps into design were very simple. I showcased my collections by taking a carefully selected piece on my daily school run. I amassed a regular following as my friends and fellow local mums became the very first to endorse and support my little venture. Inspired by the response I moved onto local antiques markets in Oxford and then on to one of London's prime shopping districts, Marylebone High Street. I also supported local schools, nurseries and charities such as Oxfam, along the way. I am now based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and want to introduce my scarves to New England and beyond. I'm certain that their uniqueness will acquire a following. The SOHA scarf doesn’t need an occasion or a season - it's a timeless classic. The collection
SOHA honors amazing South East Asian artisans by designing and exhibiting one-of-a-kind pieces, ensuring that this treasure trove of hidden talent can be admired and not forgotten. My dual cultural heritage has enabled me to create collections which meld eastern techniques with the modern. Designs chosen for their bold, whimsical elegance and their individuality create a beautiful mix of the traditional and the contemporary. There's a design to suit every style; colourful and bold to understated elegance and simplicity, but all with an emphasis on the wearable. As you scroll through my site you will discover the beauty of block printing, screen printing and discharge printing. Hand painting and the ancient art of ‘chunri’ also features throughout the line. All scarves are made in luxury silks, pure, raw and chiffon, making them a very special addition to any wardrobe. SOHA is perfect for those who are looking for quality craftmanship, originality and flair in their gifts. Soon to come
Soon to feature at SOHA will be classic hand crafted summer frocks. Lovingly made in beautiful cottons, 'The Smocked Frock' collection will revive the art of smocking for today's generation. Old Tribal necklaces and trinkets, salvaged, redesigned and restored by hand will also join the collection. These individual statement necklaces hold a story and bring with them a history from their place of origin.
