B.F. Skinner Foundation

B.F. Skinner Foundation The B. F. Skinner Foundation promotes the science founded by B. Skinner and supports the practices derived from that science.

In so doing, the Foundation advances a more humane world by replacing coercive techniques with positive procedures.

Did you ever meet B.F. Skinner? Work alongside him? Train under someone who did?

We're collecting personal stories — and we want to hear yours.

Whether it's a memory from a conference, a conversation that changed how you think about behavior, or a mentor who shared their own Skinner stories — these moments matter and deserve to be preserved.

Here's how you can help:
✉️ Submit your own written story
🎥 Send us a short video
🤝 Connect us with a retired mentor or colleague who has stories to tell
🎙️ Sign up to be interviewed (we'll record a video for YouTube and a transcript for Operants)

📬 Reach out: [email protected]

The history of behavior analysis lives in the people who were there. Help us capture it.

🎉 SPRING 2026 FUNDRAISER UPDATE 🎉

Because of your incredible generosity, the B. F. Skinner Foundation has officially reached (and surpassed) our Spring Fundraiser goal of $25,000 before the campaign closes on May 31!

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our mission, purchased merchandise, or supported the Foundation in any way. Your support makes a real difference.

While we're celebrating this milestone, our work continues throughout the year. The funds raised so far provide an important foundation, but they represent only a portion of the resources needed to sustain our programs and initiatives.

Your continued support helps us:

📚 Preserve and expand the B. F. Skinner Archives
📰 Publish Operants magazine
📖 Produce and distribute books and educational resources
🎥 Create original content for the behavior science community
🏆 Support awards for students and early-career researchers
🌎 Advance education, research, and public understanding of behavior science

If you would like to help us continue this work, there is still time to make a donation or visit our online bookstore and merchandise shop.

Every contribution. Every purchase. Every act of support helps preserve and advance B. F. Skinner's legacy while promoting better behavioral science for a more humane world.

Thank you for being part of this mission. ❤️

OPERANTS FEATURED ARTICLE

What does it take to build behavior-analytic services in a region where resources are limited, awareness is growing, and pioneers are helping shape the future?

In the 2023 Q1 issue of Operants, Whitney Hammel Anny, co-founder and executive director of Autism Compassion Africa, highlighted both the successes and challenges of advancing ABA in West Africa through the stories of two trailblazing women in Ghana: Beatrice Fosua and Josephine Mnena Akure.

Their experiences offer a powerful look at the opportunities, obstacles, and determination involved in expanding access to behavior-analytic services across cultures and communities.

🎥 OPERANTS FEATURED VIDEO

Computer Models of Operant Behavior for Analyses of Verbal Behavior and Rule-Guided Behavior: William R. Hutchison, PhD
Operants, 2020 Q2

The latest featured video is now available!

In a thought-provoking conversation with Christy Evanko, William R. Hutchison, PhD, explores the surprising connections between behavior analysis and the technologies reshaping our world. From the growing capabilities of artificial intelligence to the role of mathematical fluency in behavior analysis, Dr. Hutchison discusses why these topics deserve the attention of both scientists and practitioners.

Drawing from his 2020 Operants article, Computer Models of Operant Behavior for Analyses of Verbal Behavior and Rule-Guided Behavior, Dr. Hutchison examines reinforcement learning as a branch of machine learning and highlights its deep conceptual roots in behavior-analytic science. He also considers what behavior analysts can learn from computer science and what programmers may be missing when they overlook behavior analysis.

As AI continues to transform society, these connections are becoming increasingly important.

That's a wrap!

What an incredible week at the Association for Behavior Analysis International® Convention in San Francisco! We had the opportunity to meet so many members of the behavior science community, reconnect with longtime friends and colleagues, and share the work of the B. F. Skinner Foundation with attendees from around the world.

It was inspiring to see the science of behavior thriving and to meet so many people who continue to support the legacy of B. F. Skinner and the Foundation's mission of advancing a more humane world through behavioral science.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, explored the archives, purchased merchandise, shared stories, and helped keep Skinner's work alive for future generations.

Until next year... we'll see you in New Orleans for ABAI 2027!
