Owen, my love, the threads of connection that you have created are continuing to build a strong, reliable net for all of us to fall into when times are so hard and life feels insurmountable.

Lessons learned: lean in. Ask for help. Pull over, change directions, listen, hug, pick up the phone, hop on the plane, show up. Love over fear. 🧡

“Grief has made me old.
My bones have bent and snapped, crumbling to the earth.
Ash and dust.
Stardust. 💫
Saggy and sliding.
My grief shapeshifts into a puddle of dark, cloudy hazy muck.
My bones no longer solid.
My skin no longer staying in a lifted, younger place.
Ragged. Weathered. Worn.
My grief, as giving birth, to my child, has turned me inside out. Raw. Sliced open for all to see, yet so hidden behind the door, it’s a door too heavy and too large to actually open.
No light allowed in.
Just must and mold and dust and ash.”

17 weeks without your physical presence. No hugs. No calls. No hearing your voice. No getting your random Snaps.
17 weeks and an eternity of pain. Loss. Shock. Disbelief.
Owen is supposed to be here. He is supposed to be making us laugh, playing loud music, making food at all hours of night. Owen is supposed to be here, riding, working, planning his next trip.
While others buy gifts and trim the Xmas tree, we pause, cry, hold on to the hope that maybe, just maybe we will awaken from this hell.
In this photo of a SC, my son was telling me that he wished he could give me, his mama a hug.

Hold em close ya’ll. You just never know at what second your life before will end…take nothing granted. Which I think I always did a pretty good job at. And still, my love was yanked from our lives. A light. A connection. A kid that when you called for help, he picked up.
Pick up the phone. Hug your people. Reach out to those that don’t have the strength to do so. That is what would do. 🧡
