3 years of Missouri Moons! ✨ Three years ago I began my small business journey in a completely different phase of life. It's been a turbulent three years but I'm thankful for all the love & support I've been given over these years! ❤️ I am hoping to really grow and expand my business in 2023. I just need some working capital so that I can do that. So here's to even more years ahead for my lil store! 🎉

Shop Sustainable! ♡ shop secondhand and keep things out of the landfill. In the days of fast fashion/low quality items from China, there are still so many well made pieces from years past. I love dealing in vintage because it's common to find things that are 50+ years old still somehow in amazing condition! For me personally, 90% of what I wear is secondhand. Over the past 2 years I've made the commitment to try to only buy used & I love all the VARIETY in my closet! Buying secondhand is a great way to help the planet and really express your style.

🎉TWO YEARS IN BUSINESS🎉
2 years ago I joined mercari to sell an extra eyeshadow palette I had. It sold & it was so easy that I decided to sell everything I didn't need anymore... and soon I ran out of things to sell, but I was hooked and wanted to keep going. And so my business was born! Missouri Moons has been many different things. I like fluid, ever-changing work; I could never just choose one thing to do for the rest of my life. What's the fun in that?! So Missouri Moons is the conglomerate of my interests and hobbies. Here's some fun facts:

• the name "Missouri Moons" came to me in a dream when I was deciding whether or not to pursue resale
• a toaster I sold was used on the set of 50 Cent's STARZ series "Power Book III"
• I passed 1000 sales on mercari this year! 1163 five star reviews, and only ONE return 💁🏼‍♀️
• the biggest sale so far was a dresser on etsy that sold for almost $900
• my weirdest thing that sold for a big profit was a pair of Chinese book ends that I got for free and sold for $200
• digital art is my latest venture. I have been thinking of releasing an NFT art collection soon ✨️

Thanks to everyone who has liked, followed, shared, or engaged with my posts or supported me along the way!! This next year I'd like to focus more on the community. I LOVE helping new sellers & sharing tips etc. To me, competition doesn't exist, because there's room for ALL OF US to succeed! There will never be another *you* that is capable of everything you are. And in the same vein, there are billions of consumers with different tastes and wants and budgets etc... let's all root for each other! It's free! ❤❤❤

I've done some rebranding once again 🌙 Ty + I have moved away from furniture restoration for the foreseeable future. It's alot of fun, but it was stressful having our own home practically overflowing with extra furniture. We may still flip furniture on the side but we've scaled it back so much that we don't call ourselves furniture flippers anymore. We've both moved on to different projects anyway.

So on that note! It's just me (Alexa) running Missouri Moons again. I'm back to my original plan of fashion peddling & graphic design. Side note: this is what I love about the business name I chose nearly 2 years ago 😊 Missouri Moons will always be a conglomerate of my interests. I am a very mutable person ( ) & my interests change frequently BUT the one thing that will never change is my true love for creating. I'm turning 27 this month and I realize now that I am a ✨creator✨ and that's what has fed my soul since day one.

I also LOVE helping other small business owners because we all have room to succeed! So I'll be posting more tips & tricks and sharing my knowledge of resale. I started this in December 2019 and I can't believe it's almost been 2 years now. Thank you for your support and I hope I can offer more enjoyable content! 🌞

A lesson in patience. (Isn't every furniture project?) I've had this thing for like 5 months - thought it would be a quick flip bc it actually looked decent once cleaned.

But then I noticed the T-moulding was chipped in some spots, so I ordered a replacement and painstakingly applied it. And it was slightly too big 🙃 so then I decided ok, scrap the moulding, I'll just paint it. Well I had to fill the entire perimeter in because each level was 2 planks. So over days I used wood filler to fill in the gaps and sanded it all smooth... decided to do a fun geometric colorful design on it, worked so hard on it! But nobody wanted it 🥴

So after months of loathing it I finally stripped it again and started over with modern matte. Lesson learned, sometimes "neutral" is better!
