🩰 Your pointe shoes aren’t wearing out because you’re doing something wrong. They’re doing their job.
Most pointe shoes last only 16–19 hours en pointe, and one of the biggest factors affecting their lifespan is whether they have enough time to dry between wears.
When pointe shoes don’t get 24–36 hours to dry and re-harden, the box and shank can break down much faster, leaving you with less support and a shorter shoe life.
✨ Want your shoes to last longer?
✔ Rotate between two pairs if you’re dancing multiple days per week
✔ Let shoes air dry completely after class
✔ Avoid storing damp shoes in dance bags or hot cars
✔ Replace shoes before they become unsafe to dance in
Many dancers find that rotating shoes not only extends the life of each pair but also provides more consistent support and performance throughout rehearsals, classes, and performances.
Need help deciding if it’s time to start a rotation system? We’re happy to help evaluate your training schedule and current shoes.
