You are invited to Edi Matsumoto Art & Design Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting at 5 pm on Thursday, September 19th. The gallery is on Mission St. between 5th and 6th, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Come and enjoy delicious food, wine, live music by Monterey High School music band. Free event. Everyone is welcome.

Edi Matsumoto is a distinguished Japanese-American artist whose work has captivated audiences in galleries and museums worldwide. Her art elegantly bridges the gap between realism and abstraction, drawing inspiration from local landscapes, diverse cultures, and the refined aesthetics of her Japanese heritage. From captivating faces and figures to the serene balance of nature, Edi’s work reflects a unique blend of subtlety and cultural richness.

Edi's journey into art is both inspiring and unique. Discovered by her husband Fred after a simple sketch in Paris, Edi pursued her passion, earning a Master’s degree in Fine Art from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2018. Before embracing art full-time, Edi devoted nearly three decades to healthcare, including time spent working alongside Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India, and serving as a nurse practitioner.

Edi's creativity doesn’t stop with her paintings. She has also launched a stunning line of wearable art—dresses, scarves, tops, bottoms, and activewear—all made from recycled plastic bottles. These pieces are not only eco-friendly but are also designed for the modern traveler: wrinkle-free, machine-washable, moisture-wicking, and effortlessly stylish.

Come celebrate this incredible artist and designer, and be among the first to experience her latest creations up close. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet Edi Matsumoto, enjoy her work, and connect with our vibrant community.

We look forward to seeing you there!

A great gathering of creative people at my gallery yesterday. There were poets, writers, painters, musicians, linguists, glass artist, actress, film makers, photographers, and more. Amazing presentations by Valerie Berry, MD, Bill Kampe on Cheryl Kampe Fine Art, and Carrie Glenn, on storymaking. The next meeting is on July 22, but we will have a special joint event with the Crowd on July 13th too. Stay tuned. 👨‍⚕️👩🏻‍🎨📚🖼🎥🎹
