Great alternative to a heavy backed blanket is this non-backed double sided minky. Double sided minky (aka Squish) is like regular minky but with extra stretch and you get that amazing minky softness not only on the front of the fabric but also on the back.
Only one side of the fabric is printed the other side is white, I round the corners and finish the edge with a rolled hem. This makes a great simplified and more budget friendly minky blanket.

This one is Adult XL sized approximately 60"x90".
