To our wonderful clients:
We’ve moved - and are ONLY taking appointments via phone call to: 307-266-1330.
We do have some service limitations with this move as well - which is why a phone call is required to ensure Pat can meet your needs for alterations. Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this transition.

Sew What is preparing double-lined fabric masks with a pocket for filter masks for our some of hospital workers in an attempt to get-ahead of the potential PPE shortage in the COVID-19 crisis.
Fabric has been donated by many community members who we thank from the bottom of our hearts to be able to make these masks.
Do you want to help? We can send the pattern if you would like to make some as well!
Cannot sew and still want to help? We are providing all these masks free of charge so if you have filter inserts, fabric, elastic, or even want to donate some money towards our efforts to protect our hospital workers just contact us!
Thank you, to all our hospital workers for keeping us safe!
**we are currently NOT making these for the general public, but will share the link on HOW to make these in the comments**

Following the announcements of school closures we would like to remind you that Pat and I only have your safety in mind. Saying that, all group classes have been CANCELLED until future notice. We want to thank all the students from the Olli Casper College program for the support- hopefully we can get up and running safely soon.
Please CALL ahead if you plan on coming in to be sure adequate social distancing can be achieved. If you have a current appointment set, this will not change your appointment.
Be safe, wash your hands, and take care of yourself.

Very interesting!

Have you ever wondered why embroidery scissors are shaped like storks? Well, these scissors didn't actually start out as scissors, but as umbilical clamps. Sometimes, the clamps would be used with a set of forceps shaped like snakes. Why snakes? To symbolise the Rod of Asclepius, the Greek god of healing and medicine.

Between the 19th century and now, these little stork scissors have gone through some really big changes. In the past, most of them were between four and a half to six inches long, with their heads mounted at almost a 45-degree angle. The beaks were heavy clamps not meant to cut, but to restrict the blood flow before the umbilical was cut. Some even had little babies hidden inside the stork's beak that would appear when the clamps were opened.

The midwives began to use the scissors for needlework that they carried with them to work on during long waiting times when babies were being born.

Who knew these scissors had such a long history that started with delivering babies? The Smithsonian has a medical bag on display with a pair of stork scissors, in their American History Collection.
