TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT!

Are you ready?

We will at least pretend like we are.

Come on out tonight from 6–9ish PM Central Texas Time and see what all the fuss is about. We'll be here, music turned up, doors open and having ourselves a good ole time.

We've got Field Caps, Field Notes, stickers, soaps, the new OSC Dickies Workshop Floor Shirts and so much more around the shop to check out.

So get out of the house, wander around Castroville for a bit and come see us.

6–9ish.

The "ish" is important.

See y'all tonight.

Our patches got patches.

Admittedly, it sounded a lot cooler when Stephen Wilson Jr. sang it.

But we DO have patches.

Good S**t. Down in the Holler. I P*e Outside. The classic Overholt dillo. All embroidered and ready to find their way onto a hat, jacket, bag, or whatever you've got that could use a little something extra.

Some are useful for letting people know where you're from.

Some tell people a little about your personality.

And one lets everybody know you p*e outside.

We're not here to judge what information you feel is important to share with the world.

Come dig through the patch pile and find one that speaks to you.

We’ve got books!

Yeah. Books. The things with pages.

And this one in particular is Refusal to Obey by J. Aaron Courts.

No, despite the title, it is not a book about how things run around here. Although we understand how you could make that mistake.

It’s an actual historical fiction novel about the Sand Creek Massacre up there in the far-off land of Colorado. You know... north.

So if historical fiction is your thing, come grab a copy. And these aren’t just any copies either — they’re signed by the real-life author himself. Which feels considerably more impressive than us signing them.

They’re on the shelf now at Overholt.

Well, hello September.

For those of y’all who have been around for a while, you probably already know how this works. New month rolls around, we make another graphic, come up with a few more things we probably don’t have room for, and somehow another month at Overholt begins.

For those of y’all who are new around here... welcome.

We’re Overholt Supply Co., a little men’s mercantile here in Castroville, Texas. We’ve got shirts, field caps, books, Field Notes, knives, soaps, beard stuff, stickers, patches, things we designed ourselves, things made by folks we like, and a steadily growing collection of other stuff we thought was cool enough to put on a shelf.

September should be a fun one.

We’ve got our new Workshop Floor gear coming, our first Trading Post Market happening September 12th, some new designs working their way out of the computer and into the real world, and probably a few things we haven’t thought of yet.

Which is generally how things work around here.

So if you’ve been with us for years, thanks for continuing to come along for whatever this is.

If you just found us...

Sorry about the mess. Come on in.

FIRST FRIDAY. FIORELLA FRIDAY. FOURTH OF SEPTEMBER.

That is a lot of F’s for one event.

We’re doing it again this Friday, September 4th, and we figured instead of making some tasteful little graphic telling you to come see us, we’d go full used-car-ad and cram as much stuff onto one page as humanly possible.

Field Caps. Field Notes. Stickers. The NEW OSC Dickies Workshop Floor Shirts. Soaps for her. And so much more that we eventually just gave up and literally wrote AND SO MUCH MORE...

That’s advertising.

We’ll be open our usual hours Friday, but Fiorella Friday runs 6–9PM-ish, so come wander around Castroville, grab something to eat, stop in, look at some stuff, buy some stuff, tell us you’re just looking and then continue looking. We’re good with all of it.

Friday, September 4th. Overholt Supply Co. Castroville, TEX.

Come see what we managed to cram through the front door.

Look at this cool little guy.

Sometimes we’re just sitting around playing with designs, clicking things, dragging things, trying something, deleting it, trying something else and seeing what comes out the other side.

And sometimes you end up with a roadrunner.

So what’s it going to be? A patch? An embroidered hat? A sticker? Something else entirely? Did we just do a little foreshadowing? Are we asking way too many hypothetical questions? Is this becoming a rabbit hole?

Listen, we don’t know. We just work here.

Whatever happens, happens. Alright?

But we kinda like this little guy.

Sometimes you just have to reach back into the archives a little bit and play around, you know?

So we pulled out one of our older designs, OSC-103 Castroville TEXAS, and decided to give it a little attention. Nothing was necessarily wrong with the old one. We’ve just learned a few things since we originally made it, picked up some new tricks, and apparently can’t leave well enough alone.

Cleaned it up a bit. Played with the TEXAS typography. Dropped a little halftone action in there. Then instead of having one graphic just sitting cleanly on top of the other, we started playing around with some overprinting effects so the colors actually interact where everything overlaps.

Basically, we took an old design, messed with it until we liked it again, and probably spent considerably more time doing that than any reasonable person would have.

Anyway... had some fun.

Check out the before and after and let us know which one you like better.

Invites to vendors are starting to roll out, which means The Trading Post Market is getting close. Or at least closer. We’ve officially entered the starting to sweat a little about how we’re actually going to pull this whole thing off range, so that has to mean something.

We’ve spent the last few weeks looking through applications, figuring out who’s bringing what, trying to put together a good mix of vendors, answering questions, making lists, making new lists because we forgot where we put the first lists, and generally doing all the things that apparently go into deciding one day, “Hey, we should put on a market.”

And now we’re getting to the part where we need y’all.

We can find the vendors. We can make the signs. We can figure out where everybody is going to set up. We can worry about parking and spaces and all the other little details we probably haven’t even realized we need to worry about yet. But eventually we need some actual people to show up and wander around, buy some stuff, eat some food, meet some folks and make all of this worth doing.

And look at that cool graphic we designed to entice y’all to come out. Pretty snazzy, huh? No AI here, boy, that’s our own little fingers doing the clicking and dragging and flipping and thinging. That’s how marketing works, right? We make something and y’all look at it? Seems like we’ve got this figured out.

Anyway, the vendors are coming. We made the graphic. Now we just need y’all to come out.

So put Saturday, September 12th on the calendar. The Trading Post Market runs from 10am–4pm right here in Castroville, and Market No. 1 is starting to come together.

Come see what we’ve gotten ourselves into.

Y’all remember this guy?

The original plan for The Official Un-Official Castroville, Texas Field Guide was for it to live strictly online. Pull it up on your phone, poke around, find something to do, that sort of thing. But after the feedback we got when we first showed it off, we decided that didn’t really make sense. A field guide probably ought to be, you know… an actual field guide.

So that’s what we’ve been working on.

An honest-to-goodness little book you can hold in your hand, throw in the truck, write notes in, fold a corner over if you’re one of those people, and most importantly use as an excuse to get outside for a minute and away from the Googlesphere, Metaverse, algorithm, feed, or whatever else manages to grab our attention for entirely too many hours every day.

We’ve been tweaking and twaking and moving things three pixels to the left before deciding they looked better where they were, changing things nobody but us will ever notice, and doing whatever else one does when designing something that eventually has to become a physical object. And now it’s getting pretty damn close to heading off to the printer.

One thing we decided early on was that this isn’t supposed to be a comprehensive guide to Castroville. That sounds suspiciously like homework. Instead, each volume will feature eight places to visit, along with a little bit about them and plenty of room to make the experience your own. Eight places feels doable. You can knock that out over a weekend without needing a vacation from your vacation.

Then, when you’re done with those eight, there’ll eventually be another volume with eight more places and a whole new set of little adventures around town.

The first edition of the Official Un-Official Castroville, Texas Field Guide is getting closer. This time, it’s getting out of the internet and into the real world where a field guide belongs.

Coming soon.

We’re slapping this bad boy back on the feed because we’re still looking for vendors for The Trading Post Market on September 12th, and we’d like to get that application bin nice and full before we start digging through it.

We’ll start reviewing applications this week and letting folks know, so if you’ve been thinking about applying, now would be a pretty good time to quit thinking about it and actually do it. We’re looking for well-made goods, useful gear, good food, craftsmanship, vintage finds, outdoor goods, and generally cool stuff with a strong appeal to men.

And if you don’t have anything to sell but immediately thought of your brother, buddy, uncle, neighbor, coworker, or some guy you know who disappears into his garage every weekend and comes back out with things people would actually buy—send this to him.

Head over to www.overholtsc.com/pages/market, read through the details and fill out the application. Let’s see what you’ve got.
