Welcome back wedding season. Here is my advice for grooms to feel most confident on their wedding day. Are you adding anything to the list?
1. Always have a second white shirt on hand. Thank me later.
2. The Bow Tie must be hand-tied. The slight imperfection is what makes it beautiful.
3. Break in the wedding shoes. Wear your new leather soles at home for a week. Don’t let your first walk be down the aisle.
4. Your phone is forbidden! Give your phone to your brother. Not only does a phone in the pocket ruin a $2,000 commission... AND also, you are not checking emails today.
5. Your jacket sleeves are not meant to reach your knuckles. Ensure exactly one-half inch of shirt cuff is visible. It’s a small but classy detail.
6. Hydrate often: With dancing, stress, and excitement, you will wilt. Drink water.
7. Welcome to the club! If she says the tie is straight, the tie is straight. Even if it’s off by a millimeter. Peace is more attractive than precision.
8. Don’t worry about trends. In twenty years, your photos shouldn’t look like costumes. Choose a timeless lapel. Leave radical accents to amateurs.
9. Stand like a leader. Shoulders back. Chest open. The suit is designed to support your posture, but you must provide the frame.
10. Be the calm. If the photographer arrives late or the waiter breaks a plate, look at your bride and smile. If you are unbothered, she will follow your lead.
Mazel tov to all the couples this season!
