Merry Christmas to you all! Popping in briefly to wish you all a very happy holiday season. As the year comes to and end, I reflected on what it looked like and wanted to share one of the thoughts that reflects our reality, a neuro reality, our unique neuro reality. A term we are using to refer to just us, a term that reflects our reality of a neurodivergent business, a neurodivergent family and our neurodivergent human. While neurodivergence highlights the diversity and uniqueness, the true reality of being neurodivergent is not spoken enough. The impact it has on daily lives, the struggle, the tears and hardship. This year T and I have been through what feels like an unexpected tsunami. We have seen growth, strength and resilience in our pause here. T has worked on life goals we never planned. To put it in ABA terms, goal something along the lines of 1. T to thrive and learn an educational setting that meets his needs across 2 different settings, across various instructors across several months 2. T to thrive and learn independent living skills across 2 environments, across various caregivers across several months. He has aced it like a pro and taught me so many lessons along the way.
I hope what looks like a pause here turns is into bigger and better versions of the two of us. I will strive to continue to teach T vocational skills in some way that will add more meaning and purpose to his precious life. Onwards….
