Revelations! I told you 😩
There is a deep internal check in with your heart, your posture, response and intentions when life continues to become this blooming onion that reveals itself in the right season, and sometimes a petal falls when least expecting it that catches you totally off guard.

I think a petal fell for the world today, that caught everybody off guard! But even in that a revealing happened!

Beyond way beyond…..
Deep in thought while sitting in this room, then off for X-rays 🩻 to be sure that what has been shared can be confirmed. ✅

Life has a way of confirming itself, no matter how you stack it, spin it, give it! Trust me what it reveals goes way beyond what we put on, and it shows what’s really in us!

Today the internet revealed the deep love and expression for a life lived well.

She’s gone. But the impact hasn’t left the hearts of people all across this world!

Dolly Parton was the fourth of 12 children, raised in a one room cabin in the Smoky Mountains with no electricity and no running water. Her father Robert Lee Parton could not read or write. That was not a footnote in her story, it was the whole reason she gave.

Life is not forsaken, once you realize that purpose finds you being what you needed for yourself for other people. That kind of impact produces, bears fruit, hope and witness to those who never thought it was possible.

She did not wait for permission, or until society deemed her to be successful enough to be received! The write up said she LAUNCHED 🚀!

Some of you are frustrated not because you don’t know what’s in you is purposeful, you’re frustrated because you won’t apply purpose! I know that space all too well! Information without application leads to frustration! LAUNCH 🚀

Real conversations!
I found myself texting putting meet up’s on the calendar, 📅 many you did not see because why do we have to have social proof to prove we are worth the conversation, with that being said ……

Let Me Re-introducing myself.
The part we don’t talk about when we grow and evolve is this. Who we were known as is not always who we currently are. So before we go any further, let me tell you who I am no longer choosing to be.

Niche….. hummmm a specialized market, a comfortable job or role suited for a person, a small hollow place in a wall, or an organism’s specific role in nature. That’s Webster but did you know they have a slang version too😩💆🏽‍♀️ Haaaaaaa, not surprised 😳
something extremely specific, obscure, or tailored to a small, in-the-know group rather than the mainstream.

FIELD NOTES FROM A GENERATION THAT HAD TO PAY ATTENTION

The streetlights were our alarm. When they came on, you came home. No app. No reminder. Just your mama’s voice already in your head before she ever had to say it.

We built community at Rucker Park before “community” was a buzzword. Block parties were the algorithm. Word of mouth was the reach. Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock, kept the block together if you know you know!

We walked five miles into the Village with no map, no trends to follow, just our own style, put together with what we had and how we felt. Nobody was dressing for an audience. We were just dressed. 2 strap Reeboks and Champion Sweatshirts

We ordered from the catalog and waited a month for it to come. And when it came? Baby, that was an event. We valued things because we waited for them. That’s when Woolworth, Macy’s and Tom McCann was a real thing!

We walked to the butcher. We knew his name. He knew our order. Ehhhh Toni, Italian in his own right but looked out for the block

We crossed town to get to school with no GPS, no cellphone, just cognitive thinking and paying attention. That’s what got us home safe. Not a signal. Not a device. Us. Everybody knew the meet up spot and NOBODY got left behind!

Now we’re supposed to build brands, chase algorithms, and prove ourselves in real time with the same hands that used to sew, mend, and make something out of nothing. Chyyy Bye!

Funny thing is… we were already doing the work. We were already one of a kind before it was a hashtag.

We just called it life.

Girl, you can. You always could. 🧵don’t ever forget that!

Live Simple! Remain Grateful 🫶🏾
I am so grateful to have spent my Tuesday with beautiful women, with roof top ☀️ and cute dresses 👗!

What a treat to be hosted by Hutch at The Nickel Hotel The Nickel Hotel downtown Charleston.

Hutch has such a beautiful collection that serves women from all walks of life! Many ask me as a designer how do I fe wearing other designers pieces! My response….. honored! His collection compliments who I am with the bold colors, patterns and styles!

I had such a blast catching up with so many beautiful faces, what a day take me back!

Hutch thank you for such great hospitality and adorning me with your beautiful pieces!

YOWZER!!!! GURL You Can ‼️

For 18 years I lived under a prescription I didn’t write, decisions made for me, a path laid out before I ever got to ask what I wanted. Then I became an adult, and I thought that was finally my chance to choose. Instead I picked up a new prescription, the world’s this time. Good job. Good family. Get the degree. Build the lucrative life. Do all the “right” things.

I did them. I don’t regret a single one.

But somewhere in there, there wasn’t a lot of room to just ask, what do I actually want?

This year I turned 50, and something shifted. I’m starting a series here about what that shift actually looks like, not the highlight reel version, the real one. Faith. Family. The job I love. The business I built with my own two hands. All of it, finally on my terms.

This is part 1. of the GURL You Can Series, why wait for Netflix when I can produce my own show. I’ll be sharing the rest right here, walk with me. That’s only if you are in that place where you are like “I wonder what life would look like if I really lived, not in parameters, not in ideas but IN REAL LIFE”

Can we just talk about how profound this past Sip & Patch was?

Often we get caught up on numbers but this class God reminded me yes I see you and you will know it’s me!

KEEP GOING‼️
3 students signed up and I cut off registration and said let me just work with that. One person got sick 2 came, but the two that came🙌🏾.

Naomi came all the way from Georgetown and as we were talking her mom knows my mom. I chuckled and said to myself God your funny! Then it got wilder. My second participant shared she was a principle and I began to share with her of someone I think very highly of who’s in education and Shaun said I know her, she consulted for our school. At that point I’m like ok God you playing with me!

That same person she knew sent me a message on my birthday and said what was held up, heaven is releasing it, it’s my season go forth! One may ask why share, it’s because just like I was a few months ago, was ready to throw in the towel and God said not so!

As we were in class I laughed again as they both shared they found me on Tik tok, a place I grew up a community with in months that other platforms did not do for me for years! When we looked at Tik tok I was 2 followers from 6k and was turning 6 years in business in 2 days! Everything crossed over at the same time the followers and me entering the month that I will celebrate six years!

Thank you Tribe for being the best part of me! I’m sitting at my computer updating the class schedule and THIS TIME! We gonna let the registration do what it does!

Yes last month was a blast 💥 but we can’t skip the impact of TODAY!

✅New Month
✅8th month of the year! If you know you know!
✅Black Business Month
✅My 6th Year Business Anniversary
✅My Chocolate 🍫 Drops Birthday
✅The Month where I will be using my voice and stepping into a lane I avoided way to long!

Please do not enter into this month rehearsing everything that won’t happen! There is no perfect anything! Steward what you have!

Imagine if you moved in the what if era! Two of the most powerful words in the language is faith, because what if lives in the space of what you can see and what God has already written!

I don’t regret any chapter that had to close.

Open loops in life will always have you bitter, frustrated and in your feelings, making up horrid stories that you are the only cast member on set for!

Sis close the loops on the things that keep lingering whether it’s avoided conversations, tasks, health issues, organization, financial, steps, etc.

Closed loops create mental clarity and capacity that open loops quietly steal. The more things undone, put off, ignored, skipped, robs the presence of what God is doing right now in our lives! This is when our response becomes vinegar in frustration, disappointment and overwhelm!

Listen I’m in the exceedingly and abundantly season!

WATCH YOUR MOUTH OVER HERE! I don’t want to talk about anything that does not bring life to this chapter!
