The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Washed Black’ follows up the Woman’s exclusive release ‘Washed Pink’ and is dressed in Black, Fire Red, Light Smoke Grey and Sail color scheme. This latest colorway offering by Jordan Brand is reflective of the 2021 ‘Hyper Royal’ release.
If something is dubbed “washed” the connotation associated with it is often negative. According to Urban Dictionary, “washed” is a term used to describe a general feeling of exhaust, tiredness and lack of motivation. In contrast, the ‘Washed Black’ is a largely understated color scheme with compelling suede material adjustments, and a good kind of washed: fresh, clean and crisp. Suede takes on this iconic silhouette is not a new phenomenon, With models like the ‘Stage Haze’ and ‘Light Smoke Grey’ serving up suede stylings in the past, but they are rare enough to give Sneakerheads a bit of Nike SB flair to the beloved model.

The ‘Washed Pink’ AJ1s also goes by the ‘Atmosphere 1s’ and rocks a familiar aged look on the upper, as seen on past drops like the ‘Turbo Green’ and ‘Hyper Royal’ 1s. Sorry my big-footed sneakerheads, this woman’s drop only released up to a size 12W(10.5M).

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Lucky Green’ draws inspiration from the popular “Celtics” style colorway reminiscent from the 2009 “Defining Moments Pack” aka “DMP” Pack and features the iconic ‘Black Toe’ color blocking. Here though, the red is replaced by green. The color palette is a nod to the Boston Celtics-one of MJ’s major Eastern Conference rivals and the team he had the 63-point game at the Boston Garden during the 1986 playoffs. The ‘Lucky Green’ release is more evidence of Jordan Brand cyclical nature to satisfy older sneakerheads and introduce classics to the newer heads. Old heads will immediately point out the major difference in 2023 release versus the 2009 DMPs-Nike Air branding embellished on the tongue versus a Jumpman.

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Reverse Laney’ is inspired by the team colors of MJ’s high school. Jordan attended Laney High School from 1977 to 1981 and as the story goes, was cut by the varsity roster his sophomore season. It’s the “story” of legend that how could the greatest basketball player to ever play the game be cut by tiny Laney High School in Wilmington, NC. The red Nike Air tongue tag pays homage to the Chicago Bulls, illustrating how far MJ came in life from that moment. Not to fear my big-footed Sneakerheads, although this was a Woman’s Exclusive it went through extended sizes.

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘True Blue’ follows true with Jordan Brand’s modus operandi of borrowing color schemes from its line of signature silhouettes. And with the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3 coming in 2023, the beloved AJ1 is honoring the silhouette by adopting two of its most OG color palettes: the ‘White Cement’ and the ‘True Blue’.
While the iconic cement print is not found on this particular ‘True Blue’, the majority of the palette is translated (although many OGs agree the blue is off). True Blue hits are showcased on the forefoot overlays, Swoosh, laces, Wings logo, tongue tag and ankle liner. Cement grey heel overlays and a crispy white tongue, toe box, quarter panels and collars set this 💯 sleeper off.

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Gorge Green’ features color blocking reminiscent of the iconic Air Jordan 1 COJP ‘Midnight Navy’, originally released in 2001 and ran back in 2020. The all leather upper features a white tumbled leather on the quarter panel, toe box and upper collar with Gorge Green overlays on the forefoot and heel. Branding includes a metallic silver Swoosh, jeweled Wings logo and a white Nike Air on a green tongue tag. A crispy white midsole pops off a green outsole. The leather quality is A1 and although most sneakerheads are turned off by the metallic Swoosh, this sneaker is super slept on.

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG A Ma Maniere ‘Airness’ is a follow up collaboration to the Air Jordan 3 Spring 2021 release. These sneakers are more than a well-done collaboration. They shine a light on the current systemic issues and marginalization that folks in Black communities face on a daily basis and serve as a calling to everyone to use their voice to affect change-a rallying cry that the owner and founder of A Ma Maniere, James Whitner, himself has titled ‘Airness’. Whitner said it best, “We all have the responsibility to show the realities of our community’s experiences and continue the difficult conversations that make us all better”.
The elevated cracked leather uppers, quilted liners and the snakeskin-covered Swooshes dipped in rich burgundy certainly give these 1s an appeal, but it’s the minor details expressed here that give them life. Inside the flaps, you’ll find an inspirational inscription that reads “You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them”, and the insoles are adorned with a banner that spells out “Airness by A Ma Maniere for Air Jordan”. A traditional Wings logo is stamped on the collar flap, and the interior of the sneaker features MJ’s signature. Additional branding finds it way on the woven tongue tag showcasing both Nike Air and A Ma Maniere logos. Yellow vintage soles, burgundy laces and outsole finish off this classic and timeless collector piece.

The Air Jordan 1 Low SE ‘Tokyo 96’ pays homage to MJs inaugural trip to Japan 🇯🇵 in 1996. Fans filled the Yokohama Arena for the “Nike Hoops Heroes” event that took place in September 1996. He was one of several guests at the event, along with Charles Barkley, Jason Kidd, Michael Finley, Damian Stoudermaier, and Carl Lewis.
The colorway’s palette takes inspiration from the iconic picture of Jordan D’ing up a young kid at the Nike Hoops Heroes tour. Materials used are A1 and have a Union collab aesthetic.

Straight out the fault, the coveted Air Jordan IV Retro ‘Thunder’ is a return of the 2006 retro plus OG, releasing for the first time in over a decade (2012). The ‘Thunder’ AJ4 was originally part of a three-sneaker series with the yellow/black ‘Lightening’ 4s and the white/black/yellow ‘Tour Yellow’ 4s. The colors were inspired by MJ’s motorcycle race team. The original 2006 release of the ‘Thunder and Lightening’ pack included a Rare Air jacket and retailed at $500.

The Air Jordan 4 Retro SE ‘Craft’ makes over Tinker Hatfield iconic silhouette with upgraded A1 materials. According to Jordan Brand, the thinking behind the “Craft” series is to pump out pairs that look like they’re made in non-mechanized, handmade fashion. This legacy silhouette rocks a grayish hue Photon Dust, which works brilliantly alongside off-white tones and a darker Grey Fog. There’s a suede overlay, along with a novel placed piece of suede uniquely placed under the collar. JB upgraded the plastic wings and built them with a cracked leather, while gridded suede replaces the traditional plastic netting on the quarter panel. Pale vanilla pair perfectly on the sneakers molded eyelets, as well as Jumpman branding hits at the tongue and heel.

Dressed down in a Black, Light Steel Grey, White, and Fire Red scheme this banger gives similar color blocking vibes to the 2015 charity auction exclusive Eminem Carhartt 4s but without the 20k price tag. The palette is nearly identical, but it features various deviations in both material & accents that allow it to stand on its own.
