Spinrite is the largest craft yarn and sewing thread company in North America. As an industry leader focused on driving growth and ex*****on excellence, we are looking for a Transportation Coordinator to support our Planning and Strategic Sourcing team.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Transportation Coordinator will be responsible for tracking the movement of inbound materials, providing reports and guidance on the movement of containers in and out of storage locations, and priorities for unloading at Spinrite distribution centers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide timely reports of materials waiting to be loaded at origin, materials on the water, and waiting for unloading at port
• Provide timely reports to warehouse managers, to control detention, demurrage and per diem storage fees at freight forwarder depots
• Assist the Accounts Payable team in reconciling invoices for goods received as well as freight forwarder charges
• Establish day to day operational processes with logistics providers
• Raise issues to the procurement and planning team in a timely fashion (e.g. delays, constraints, customs clearance)
• Assist the planning team in acquiring containers and vessel space on an overflow/spot basis (if freight forwarder partners are constrained)
• Assist with expedited shipments (e.g. air)
• Track expedited costs
• Work in a safe manner and meet company safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Employment Requirements
• BS/BA in Business Administration; Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Logistics or equivalent experience is required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics
• Experience in data mining, analysis and reporting
• Experience working within ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, INFOR, PeopleSoft or similar)
• Problem-solving aptitude
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Positive / proactive approach
• Working knowledge of MS Office (with a strong comfort level in Excel and Pivot tables) and related databases
