These are photos of Charlotte Sewing Center’s Fabric Collage class. Everyone is working on a different pattern. In the first class, foundations were created and the ‘fussy cutting’ and ‘shape cutting’ of fabrics were done to build each collage. We are excited to see the finished results!

At Charlotte Sewing Center, we had another fun class making Quilted Fabric Shoes. Look closely and you’ll see that each is showing off her one completed shoe, including our instructor, Tiffany, second from right in the group photo. Tory was way ahead of the class because she actually completed both her shoes in the class and wore them home! Everyone agreed it was a fun class and, really, not all that hard to do! Maybe we’ll have Tiffany back sometime in 2026 to do another Quilted Fabric Shoes class. Let us know if you’d be interested in taking the class.

Charlotte Sewing Instructor, Susan Nelson, has been teaching a Fabric Collage workshop . Some of the project patterns being worked on included an angel, cats, reindeer, large bee and a flower garden. All patterns are Laura Heine Collage designs. Most of them progressed to the ‘ready-to-quilt’ stage. Everyone said it was fun to do, and very creative!

Quilted Fabric Shoe Class coming to Charlotte Sewing Center August 1st!
Looking for a fun and creative way to refresh your shoe collection? Make a fun and totally unique pair of sneakers from quilted fabric! You will need two Fabric Fat Quarters and an 18”x22” piece of fusible foam to quilt together before class. Tiffany, the class instructor, will tell you how. Bring a third Fat Quarter of fabric to finish the edges of the shoes. All the other materials needed are in the Sneaker Kit that is included in the cost of the class. The class is all day on Friday, August 1, 2025. The cost is $100 which includes the Sneakers Kt ($60) and the class fee ($40). Charlotte Sewing Center Instructor Susan Nelson is leading a Happiness 2.0 Workshop. The first task of the class is the very center of the quilt. With that completed, this week they will be adding a spiked circle to the center. Customers Jennifer, Reyn, and Jane are holding the centers. Happiness 2.0 is a Jacqueline de Jonge (Be Colourful) paper-pieced, very intricate, quilt. This is a new challenge quilt for all in the Workshop. Stay tuned for a photo of the outcome!

Charlotte Sewing Center instructor, Regina Lee, brought some handcrafted dolls to the April Icon Club last Saturday to share with the group. Look at the amazing detail work that went into making their beautiful clothes! Regina has been sewing since she was a little girl and is an expert and award winning seamstress. She teaches the Beginner Sewing classes at our store and her classes are always fun and informative! If you want to learn how to sew, she’s the one to teach you!
