What was going to be just a side gig/hobby turned quickly into a fast growing business. We never imagined Bick n Berry Boutique would grow into what it is today. From fashion shows to private store parties and pop ups in home, to traveling to markets across the country, and all of the countless adventures with great memories, it’s been quite a ride to say the least and doing it beside life long friends was just the icing on the cake.
From the beginning, we never had intentions of leaving our careers or putting them on the back burner. We were two moms/wives/nurses/friends who loved shopping and fashion and wanted to bring it for others to enjoy too! We have tried our best over the years to juggle everything between work, life, and family commitments. What started out as just the two of us quickly grew to 3,4,5,6 and at one time 7 part time employees.
To be honest, after Covid retail overall has changed. Let’s be real, people shop differently now, from their homes, from their phone, in big box stores where prices can be lower, large online websites, and the boutique market is flooded now with options. We totally understand that, we truly do…times change, and our economy is changing. Between that, and increased shipping/freight charges and the ability to order inventory, it is financially hard to compete with the big guys. Spinning our wheels in place isn’t something we do and we are being proactive with our business decision. It is with heavy hearts that we have made the difficult decision to close Bick n Berry Boutique. It comes with tears and a whole lot of emotions, but we made it together this far and this long on a hobby that quickly turned business, and for that we will keep our heads high.
We’ve gained the experience and the knowledge in what it takes to own and operate a small business, being women in business, and the joys and struggles of being in a small town. We have learned the ropes on bookkeeping, payroll, inventory management, and the forever changing algorithms to social media.
For those that have been on our BnB team over the years, you’re more than just friends, you’re family and we are grateful for everything you have done and all that you contributed to the success of BnB.
We have gained so many new friendships within our community and from afar and we are forever grateful for that and the opportunities we shared. A huge shoutout to Barber Dave for all that he has helped us with over the years. He has always been one of our biggest cheerleaders, greatest supporters, and he has helped us with so much. He’s a true gem and one helluva great asset to the community of Chatfield.
Thank you everyone for the past 6 years, it’s been quite a ride!! Our storefront is now permanently closed, however, all gift cards will be honored through our online store today through September 4. ( bicknberry.com )
