Here’s my next project. Battered Brenda. 1964 White 221. Bought the stripped down hull of this one. Most parts had been removed, including the motor. I’ve got a box full of parts I’m sifting thru to replace missing ones. So far I’ve found everything except needle plate and motor. I’m going to try my hand at aluminum rot repair and paint.

So I picked up at auction this little 1964 White 221 in questionable condition, but the price was good and it had a case. It was a mess actually. Bound up so bad handwheel wouldn’t turn. Also had a repair ticket from 1988 indicating a bind. Tech replaced the belt but obviously didn’t fix the bind. Had to take the entire thing apart and reset everything. The stitch length assy was banging on the main shaft and everything from feed dog timing to bobbin assy was off. Actually had to rebuild it from bottom up! The only thing that worked on her was the motor, and that was slow. What a poor mess this little thing had been in! Plus the cosmetic tape residue and dirt! Now look at her! She purrs like a kitten and makes the most beautiful stitch!

This is my recent 201 rescue. She’s looking pretty rough now, but she came in a beautiful queen and cabinet. Just wait until you see her when she’s finished!

Oh my! This is a 1938 Singer 201 I’m rescuing. Look at this electrical fire hazard! Remember, if you have a machine that is over 80 years old, the electrical wiring is over 80 years old too. Be careful!

While stranded in FL under quarantine, I made over 300 masks on my vintage Necchi. She’s an all metal, belt driven machine that sews like an industrial machine! Just a straight stitcher, nothing fancy, but she quilts and stitches like a dream.

I love vintage sewing! Making these golf knickers from vintage 60’s plaid. I made the pattern from Lutterloh pattern making system (wow what a throwback) circa 1965-70.
