BLOG MOMENT:

Being openly gay, trans or non- binary isn’t the easiest. Especially when you’re already considered towards the MINORITY group.

Having to hide your sexual preference is not only depriving yourself to who you are but also conditioning your brain to be ashamed of who you are.

So, I’m going to say it again. It isn’t easy being gay and being a minority. Honestly, it isn’t easy being gay/trans/queer/le***an/non-binary in general, male or female. No matter what gender or what preference IT ISN’T EASY.

Not all family members can be accepting, hate is all around us.

“ YOU’RE A FREAK!”
“ YOU’RE AN ABOMINATION!”
“ YOU’RE GOING TO HELL!”
“ IT’S JUST A PHASE!”
“ YOU JUST NEED TO BE WITH A MAN”
“ YOU FU**IN TRANSVESTITE!”

These are just a few things I’ve been told growing up as a Latina le***an woman who came from a religious back ground.

It took me YEARS to love who I am. I felt so.. what’s the word. Embarrassed. I felt like I didn’t belong here and that something was seriously wrong with me.

I felt ashamed.

I hated who I was because of the words that were continuously being thrown at me everyday.

All in all, being gay isn’t easy. It’s work, it’s acceptance and it’s love. Love yourself first and then everything and everyone else second.

Believe in you and be YOU.
