This weekend The Puerto Rican Cultural Center and The Puerto Rican Agenda hosted a fundraiser at WEPA Mercado del Pueblo to honor three amazing, young, talented Boricua women and support the work they are doing. At the fundraiser we were able to hold a showing of Paulís Cofresí Cartagena's short film “The Making of My Seasons”, which later won her (by unanimous decision of the jury) the youth award at the 17th Annual CineYouth Film Festival, presented by the Chicago International Film Festival. We got to try cupcakes from Yamari Nuñez who will be participating in a prestigious law program at Georgetown University. We also were able to raise money to send Gia Soto to The Cleveland Institute of Art summer program, so she can follow her dreams of becoming an animator. Thanks to the generous donations of The Puerto Rican Cultural Center, The Puerto Rican Agenda, and all those who attended we were able to raise 845 dollars for each talented young Boricua woman. Thank you to everyone who supported!
