Do you remember that moment in school when you felt… different?

For me, that moment arrived in third grade when I found out I needed glasses. What started as a struggle with my self-esteem—complete with teasing and bullying—eventually turned into my greatest strength.

I’m thrilled to invite you to a special event for my new children’s book, The Journey of The Girl and Her Glasses.

This book is a heart-centered guide for grade-schoolers on navigating anti-bullying, building unshakable self-confidence, and embracing the things that make them unique. It’s the story of how a single conversation with my father changed my perspective forever, leading me to turn my "weakness" into a fashion statement—and eventually, my own Fashion Eyewear Brand, John Wesley Eyewear Designs

As entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves needing to pause and pivot, and I have embraced both of these strategies. I took a moment to pause due to exhaustion and burnout. During this time, I also made the decision to pivot. After three years of operating a brick-and-mortar location, I closed that chapter and opened a new, cozy eyewear studio down the street, designed to better serve our customers via appointment only. We are committed to still popping up around the country so that we can still service our loyal customer base. We now have our eyewear collection in various bookstores and vision care centers.

In parallel with this transition, I applied to the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women and Black in Business program. This took place at the beginning of the year.

Also As entrepreneurs, we wear many hats, and the most recent one I donned was that of a SCHOLAR. I am proud to share that I successfully graduated from the program yesterday, and I am eager to apply the knowledge I gained from NYU Stern to my business.

I invite you to stay tuned for "The Reset" and our Open Studio Night for John Wesley Eyewear, scheduled for July 11-12, 2025. More details will be shared soon.
