ensemble for a very charming little girl in Michigan ❄️
Cape is a big glitter tulle rectangle gathered on the serger, with two elastic loops sewn onto the shoulders. Originally I was planning a one-piece princess gown until I thought she might have more fun with mix-and-match pieces.
The skirt is two layers of gathered tulle - top layer is the same as the cape, and bottom is teal blue. Elastic waist for easy costume changes; rayon challis casing for a princess finish.
Dress is view D in a glittery stretch knit, with a modified band collar (who wants to put a zipper on a preschooler?)
85% of the work was done on the - outside of finishing edges, it doesn’t get much use. For this project I wanted to challenge myself to only make simply constructed items, that could easily be remade for growing sizes - she’ll have way more fun with a dress up set than a heritage dress. And now I know what kinds of things I can speed through the serger!
