Transit Tees takes visuals from Chicago's metropolitan landscapes and transforms them into fasionable artwork. The brand was founded in 2001 by Tim Gillengerten, a creative director who aspired to build an apparel line that reinterprets subway maps, street signs, city seals and flags in ways that the public had never seen before. Celebrate Illinois’ official state insect with our soft, fitted Monarch Butterfly Tank. 🦋

This design is inspired by the incredible monarch migration that passes through Illinois every spring and fall. Printed on high neck cotton ribbed tanks, it’s a callback to Y2K fashion.

Our Pierced Lips Crop was inspired by the iconic MagiKist signs famously seen from expressways in the ‘60s through the early 2000s, when the last sign was taken down in 2004. For many, it served as a landmark that meant you were getting closer to home. We added the 6 point star and a little bar bell as a nod to the alternative community everywhere with love for Chicago.

Taking inspiration and stories from Chicago to create unique art is our bread & butter at Transit Tees. We hope this design reminds you of your own personal story of the MagiKist sign 💋
