Postpartum depression doesn’t always look the way you expect it to.

Our owner and founder, Anna Rodney, recently spoke with NBC Chicago about postpartum depression and the importance of recognizing when a new parent may be struggling.

While doulas do not diagnose postpartum depression or other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, they can be an important part of a family’s support system during this vulnerable season.

Our doulas at Chicago Family Doulas are there to care for families, listen without judgment, recognize when additional support may be needed, and help connect families with trusted resources and professionals.

Because postpartum care isn’t only about caring for the baby.

It’s about making sure the person who just had one feels seen, supported, and cared for, too.

We’re grateful to NBC Chicago for continuing this important conversation and giving Anna the opportunity to share why postpartum support matters.
