👋 I recently hit 800 followers (the organic way, 😆) so I figured I was due for a little re-introduction. Putting a face to the name. I’m Sara 👋 although some folks just call me Funky. I have been thrifting, collecting and slangin vintage since the early 2000’s y’all. I wore vintage to my high school dances, I hosted “denim decorating parties” in high school. My first job in high school was working at JoAnn Fabrics and I worked for an interior designer and ran her boutique. I guess I just love creating and celebrating beauty and art. I studied fashion in college and my first adult job was as Director of a non-profit/ manager of the social enterprise resale boutique and e-commerce. I opened an Etsy in 2008 and started doing local markets in 2012. I am a quirky creative, sensitive, social, spiritual and silly being. Curating, creating, styling is an expression from my heart. I am a lover, a pacifist and a girl’s girl. I love supporting my friends and other entrepreneurial creatives. I love to sew, garden, travel, hike, take pictures, bake and care-take. I love the little life I have created for myself in Chicago with my partner, our animals (Bug, Birdie & Bunnie) and love you all for being a part of this journey with me. ✨ Market season is in full swing! Had a great (and super hot 🥵 ) time this weekend! Thanks to my trusty market buddy 🍉 ☀️ 🥤 I’ll be at every Friday (with exception of 9.5) through September! I’ll be popping up at Andersonville Vintage Market again on 8.9 & 9.13. Perhaps another market will get added in there, but that’s it for now!

✨ A few of my newest original up-cycled creations! My sewing area if full of vintage finding: quilted pieces, notions, fabric scraps, linen table runners, place-mat, coasters,etc. I think of this a lot like junk journaling, drawing inspo and making art out of what I’ve collected over the years. All of these pieces and patches were bought second-hand. I just love making things into patches and making fabric collages. All are fused as well as sewn and all are one-of-a-kind. I’ll be bringing these piece + more to this weekend’s market! It’s the opening of on Friday. As well as the opening of Andersonville Vintage Market ( ) on Sunday! Hope to see some familiar faces there!

✨ Hi! 👋 I’ll be popping up in Lombard on Sunday 6/28. For brought to you by This will be the 4th time, I’ve been there since its inception! Truly, this market just keeps getting better and better! Downtown Lombard will be a vintage Mecca with some of the best of the best popping up for the day! If you love vintage, this is one that is worth the trip! There’s also music and food and contests and such, very much fun for the whole family. And I’ll be brining a true vintage variety. I’ll be in the same first spot facing St. Charles. I’ll be packing my car full of so much great clothing, a clearance bin, accessories, belts, bags, scarves, brooches, groovy suitcases, some freshly curated wall decor and linens and of course always some kitschy trinkets! Chicago-land vintage lovers, I hope to see you there! 🤙

✨ Making clothing more whimsical since 2015. I’ve always been a big fan of upcycling and using vintage & creative findings into embellishments and patches. Whether that be a doily, a piece from a textile or an unfinished quilt, or creating cynotypes sun prints or patches. Cropping things and adding a crocheted edge. Utilizing vintage pieces and making them a more cut. Putting a patch over a stain or a hole. Taking things apart and using the fabric to transform into something else entirely. I basically use what I’ve been collecting (squirreling away in my craft room 🐿️) and get into a flow state with it and make plain things more interesting, more whimsical, one-of-kind. I have so many ideas, so many findings and pieces with the intention of transforming (or ‘whimsifying’!?) that the challenge is always the lack of time and energy to make them all happen. Here’s a few pieces I’ve made recently, and a few I made as personals that I’m letting go of! These will be in my WhatNot show this evening. But you can also expect more pieces like this at my summer markets too! Interested in a custom? I would love to co-create something for you!!
