Why I Created the Original Lauren in 2010 😳

I designed the Lauren because I was tired of constantly choosing between style and functionality. I wanted a single, versatile bag that could seamlessly shift from weekend adventures to weekday meetings, from errands to travel - one bag for wherever life takes you.

I knew from the start I wanted a fold-over style; I always loved that look but was frustrated seeing designs that could only be worn two ways. Why limit ourselves? So, I created the Lauren with two detachable straps instead of just one. Suddenly, you could transform it simply by where you hooked the strap onto the bag: shoulder bag, crossbody, fold-over and even handheld clutch, especially with the Mini.

The backpack option? Believe it or not, that was discovered by one of my biggest fans, a true “aha!” moment for me!

We extended the strap length to 54 inches several years ago, thanks to feedback from women with longer torsos. That’s what I love most about being a small business: connecting with you directly, listening, and adapting in a way big corporations simply can't.

We don't try to make the next IT bag, we just love creating leather goods that you will love for years and years and never feel dated by your bag.

- I designed Pamela back in 2013 as a large hobo bag with a wide strap.
- In 2015, we introduced the Mini version and
- By 2016, we discontinued the original size and added darts to the current design (mirroring our Lauren bags)
- After launching our Lizzy bag straps in 2020, the feedback we received was "I want to use these straps with my Pamela bag!" and BOOM! in 2023 we added the detachable strap.

As a small batch brand, we don't try to reinvent the wheel every season. We don't want to overproduce or be branded so last year. So when I am designing, I take my time and every part of the process is intentional.

Long before I decided to start designing leather goods, I was the Music Director at a Alt Rock radio station, and I lived for moments like this - and that rock-n-roll energy still fuels every slouchy silhouette and guitar-style strap we craft today.

ps: He complimented me on my shoes, this was when I was addicted to shoes and not bags...yet 🤩

Noche is our only current leather with silver hardware. We added several Lizzy straps with silver hardware so you can add one without the look of mixed metal. This fall we are bringing back Aquarius, but crossing our fingers we can add another leather with silver hardware to our collection.

I came across a video on Instagram the other day that stopped me mid-scroll. Someone was talking about how the "it bag" of the moment always ends up dating the look.

We've all seen it. An old photo pops up and your first thought is that's so early 2000s. Not because of the hair or the outfit (that's the 80s).

But the bag gave it away.

Trendy bags are designed to be the bag of the moment, until the moment passes.

And I thought... that never happens with mine.

As a sustainable brand, I held onto some of our original fabrics forever not knowing what if anything I would do with them. A fan asked about little pouches to organize the inside of her and bag, and I thought a-ha!

The pink hearts sold out quickly, let us know if we should make more. Comment below ⬇️

In the meantime, our Chevron prints are amazing and the giraffe so much fun. The key was to keep them lightweight, so they won't weigh down your bag.
