When I was in the third grade, I had a classmate who, along with her mom and little sister, was experiencing homelessness. I told my mom about them, and without hesitation, she stepped in. We went to Marshalls and picked out a kid-sized suitcase and a small backpack. We filled them with clothes, toys, snacks, and school supplies. When we gave the bags to them, I remember how excited they were—rushing to see what was inside.
My mom didn’t wait to be asked. She saw a need and filled it with love, care, and dignity.
That small act planted a seed in me that I didn’t fully understand until much later—but it’s the root of everything Got it to Give stands for today.
