https://alyceparis.com/pages/find-a-store As an enterprising teenager, she harnessed her entrepreneurial instinct by tailoring shirts for the town’s farmers, and then hand crafted elegant dresses for the local ladies out of her mother’s draperies
. She soon grew restless and moved her talents to a local design school before deciding that where she REALLY needed to be was Paris, France in the early 1950s. After graduating the Paris École de Coupe in 1952, Alice was ready to take on the world: she abruptly switched continents, and moved to Chicago in 1953 to design for a bridal and specialty dress manufacturer. Alice became increasingly insatiable by working for other people, and thus founded her own company in 1967 after she bought out the owners, loftily telling them “you don’t need this company anymore.” Because of her, ALYCE Paris blossomed from that one bold idea. After 50 years, we still hand make dresses using the same finishing techniques that Alice developed during her prodigious working years and passed down to the next generation
After 50 years, we still sell our evening gowns to some of the same bridal shops who were Alice’s first customers in the late 1960s. After 50 years, we are actively looking ahead to the next 50 years.
