I am a Master Seamstress. have been sewing for over 40 years and teaching sewing for over 25 years in Chicago and the DMV. I teach basic and beginning sewing to get students to the point they can sew and alter their own clothing. I also teach upcycling classes which will allow the student to create clothing fr

om preloved and thrifted items. I’m a certified trained sewing instructor through the Sewing & Craft Alliance. I have participated in fashion shows in Chicago and New York City during NYFW and Brooklyn Fashion week promoting Sustainable Fashion. I love to share my knowledge with students. Took my girl out for a spin! 💜

My upcycled men’s shirt three-piece finally had her first night out, and I couldn’t have picked a better occasion. I wore this lavender bustier, skirt and overlay to the The CURIO Summer Fashion Social at Wolf & Company, and she did not disappoint!

It was such a fun evening filled with fashion, creativity and some seriously stylish people. And of course, I had to grab a few pictures with some of my fashionable friends while we were there.

There’s something especially satisfying about wearing something you made with your own hands — even better when it started as something completely different. A few men’s shirts got a whole new life. 💜

On September 26, I’ll be presenting “The Art of Thrifting: How to Build a Better Wardrobe One Piece at a Time” during the Sustainable Fashion Symposium at Fulton Street Collective.

We’re going beyond simply finding a bargain. I’ll be sharing practical ways to identify quality pieces, shop more intentionally, recognize what deserves a place in your wardrobe, and use thrifting, styling, and upcycling to build a wardrobe that lasts.

My Entire Sporty Chic Look Was Thrifted! ♻️✨

My entire look was THRIFTED! ♻️

I pulled together this sporty chic look for Summer Serve at Galleria Marchetti — a Meshki dress from Poshmark, Ferragamo shoes from Goodwill, and my vintage Gucci clutch from Randolph Street Market.

Who says you have to buy new to create a great look?

Thanks to CS Social and Modern Luxury for such a fun evening. I got in a little pickleball, caught up with some fashionable friends, and enjoyed one of those beautiful end-of-summer Chicago nights. 🎾✨

And a special shoutout to Brenda for making me her plus one. She couldn’t make it, but I held it down for the girls! ❤️

I Finally Made the Robe You’ve Been Asking For! 🌸 | Stash to Style Ep. 4

You all kept sending me this gorgeous robe and saying, “Jen, you HAVE to make this.”

So…I finally did. 🌸✂️

But there was one rule for Stash to Style: Episode 4: I wasn’t buying any new fabric.

The black floral fabric has been sitting in my stash for at least 7 years. The pink organza was already there. And even the satin lining was leftover from another project.

And somehow, all three came together to create THIS. 😍

This project is exactly why I keep saying: STOP SAVING THE GOOD FABRIC.

I spent the day exploring the Chicago Vintage Fest in Fulton Market, browsing everything from one-of-a-kind vintage clothing to jewelry, handbags, belts and accessories. And even a little Chicago rain couldn’t stop us from shopping. 😂☔️
