Many of you have inquired about public postings and multiple unsolicited messages by an anonymous Instagram user leveling false accusations against me, my family, and my business. My team and I are truly sorry for this distress and are so very thankful for the words and actions of support we have received.
I have engaged an attorney to pursue legal remedies to combat this defamation; I have filed a report with the Chicago Police Department; I have reported the content as both False Information and Bullying/Harassment; and dozens of followers, friends, and colleagues have reported both the posts themselves as well as the unsolicited DMs.
The offending account is anonymous and cannot be addressed directly. It may not even be a real person. How does one address false allegations when there is nobody to address? Until we find out more, I have to consider this nothing more than cyberbullying.
Once upon a time, you had the opportunity to chin up to your bully face-to-face. These days, they can create anonymous, sometimes automated accounts to slander away with no recourse. And they think they can get away with it. It is disgusting, cowardly, and taking advantage of a platform that can do so much good.
