What a wonderful morning celebrating survivors, friendship, and FUN! 💗

Personal Symmetrics was proud to sponsor the 5th Annual Karen Wellington Foundation FUN Run 5K & Recipient Celebration at Voice of America MetroPark on Saturday. This special event brings our community together to celebrate the strength and spirit of women LIVING with breast cancer—and to put a little more FUN on their calendars.

This year was especially meaningful for our own Kathleen Kauffman, Certified Post-Mastectomy Fitter and breast cancer survivor, who volunteered at the event. Kathleen also knows firsthand what the Karen Wellington Foundation can mean to a recipient—she was surprised with a KWF trip to Disney in 2025! Seeing her special recipient sign at Saturday’s event made the day even sweeter.

From the starting line to the amazing gathering of survivors, the morning was filled with energy, encouragement and plenty of smiles.

Thank you to the Karen Wellington Foundation, its volunteers, sponsors and supporters for five years of bringing joy to women and families affected by breast cancer. Skin care plays an important role in recovery after a mastectomy. Once your surgeon confirms your incision has fully healed, caring for your skin can help improve comfort, maintain healthy tissue, and prepare the area for wearing a breast prosthesis.

Here are a few simple ways to care for your skin:

// Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep skin hydrated.
// Avoid harsh soaps and alcohol-based products that can cause dryness or irritation.
// Choose soft, breathable fabrics to help minimize friction.
// Check your skin regularly for redness, irritation, or areas of pressure.
// If you notice any changes or discomfort, contact your healthcare team.

We are sharing this "birthday" post as our Personal Symmetrics family knows, our sister company is R.J. Rosenberg Orthopedic Lab! Three birthdays this week, including Personal Symmetrics' own Kathleen Kauffman.

Happy Birthday Talea, Bob and Kathleen! A trio of birthday wishes this week!

Sunday was Kathleen Kauffman’s birthday. Kathleen is our certified post-mastectomy fitter at Personal Symmetrics and also works in office administration for R.J. Rosenberg Orthopedic Lab.

Lab Coordinator, Bob Terry has celebrated many birthdays with us, having joined R.J. Rosenberg in 1985!

And Talea Chenault’s birthday is today! Talea is our newest team member, managing the office.

Personal Symmetrics specializes in fitting breast prostheses. Most breast prostheses are made of soft silicone gel (which is anti-allergenic) molded to resemble the shape of the breast or part of the breast. A silicone prosthesis is often weighted, which can help prevent shoulder drop, fix problems with balance, and maintain posture.

Some breast prostheses are light-weight foam which may be worn during recovery following a mastectomy or lumpectomy. They can also be worn during leisure time or when sleeping.
