Fact Friday: Each Friday I will share 1 simple fact about myself - so you can all get to know the owner and face behind Eyephoria!
I already told everyone how I love cooking (and canning)..... so what's my favorite food...... well that's a hard one - I love so much!! But my Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup - was what I learned to cook first - and it was my absolute favorite growing up!! I had a very close relationship with my grandparents and I could call my grandma up whenever I wanted and ask her to make me soup and I'd go over to their place for dinner. My grandmother always served it as a meal the first night, and then turned the leftovers into soup. She boiled the whole pieces of chicken with celery, carrots, and onions and made a broth and boiled the egg noodles separately. Then, on a plate, I would get served a chunk of the boiled chicken, with some carrots and celery, egg noodles on the side, and usually asparagus or broccoli - the asparagus or broccoli NEVER went into the soup - but was served the first night as the vegetable. Then, after dinner, any leftover noodles would go into the pot of broth with the carrots and celery and the remainder of the chicken would get chopped up, and we would have soup in the fridge for the next few days. I LOVED her dinner and soup. For some reason I have never served my "soup" as a meal the first night - I've always just made and served it as soup from the start. My kids love soup, and as cold/flu season starts - I make sure I have our freezer stocked with individual homemade chicken noodle soup for anyone not feeling well.....
Do you have a recipe that was passed down to you that brings back great memories or that you have slightly altered but still make?
