I stumbled upon the opportunity of making memory bears when I lost my mom. I had all of her clothes and thought originally I would make a quilt as a keepsake. The problem was there just wasn't enough clothes to make a quilt for everyone I wanted to share a keepsake of mom with. What I did find was that I could use her clothes to make memory bears for those of us who wanted such a treasure. I have

since made bears out of many lost loved one's clothes. I have also used children's sleepers or blankets to make a lasting reminder of when our kids were oh so small. Over the past several months I have expanded my creations to include t-shirt quilts, photo quilts, Christmas ornaments, and doll clothes. Many of us have favorite clothes or blankets tucked away... baby/kids clothes, sports jerseys, team shirts, clothes from loved ones etc. Transform and preserve these items by turning them into a handmade, custom creation. Lots of new creations are in the works!

Started the quilt show yesterday by earning the Judge's Choice award and finished it by adding the People's Choice ribbon! Our guild is small but mighty, an amazingly talented and hard-working bunch. I joined this guild 7 years to learn more about quilting. While I have improved my skills tremendously, the everyday friendships and support these members offer is priceless.

Just sitting down after a whirlwind two weeks, WOW is all I have to say! Spent the 1st week of June welcoming our 2nd grandson into this world. 5 weeks early and a blessing beyond words, Oliver James joined us on June 2nd.

Week 2 was spent in Hamilton, MO at Missouri Star Quilt Co teaching four classes. Missouri Star's atmosphere and hospitality is hands down 2nd to none! The chance to be in front of students from all over the country and quilters from all skill levels may have taught me as much as I taught them. I already have ideas for next year! Special shout-out to Beth Cooper for her support and encouragement. Everyone needs that Beth Cooper friend in their life!

I'll be heading back to Missouri Star in September for their Birthday Bash, which I'm told is an event you just have to experience. The whole town is a party. There a a few spots left if you want to join me, see flyer below!

Just two weeks until our quilt show. Over 80 quilts registered so far! We will also have a boutique with items for sale, silent auction of quilts, photo backdrop to capture you and your friends, a scavenger hunt and raffle quilt tickets for sale.

This four day weekend has been wonderful! I ended every evening working on Oliver's Christmas stocking. It looks like good progress but I'm only on step 27 of 114. 😳 Closing out this Memorial Day remembering all those who gave their life for our freedom. Freedom hasn't been free. 🇺🇲

This year's graduation quilts have been gifted and we wish all graduates success in their next chapter. Pictures just don't do the colors on this gem justice, it is gorgeous! Way to go, Haven, on your high school accomplishments and graduation. The sky is the limit and we wish you the very best!

Never underestimate the value of a cheater panel! I used a silk/cotton blend batting for the 1st time. It is very lightweight and drapes beautifully. Minus the higher cost of this batting, it is my favorite by far.

Peer pressure (or let's call it friendly encouragnent) on a bus trip last month got me started on an Exploding Heart pattern. This has been such a fun quilt to put together.

Four years ago I had never been on a bus trip, I didn't think I would like them at all. Three bus trips later and I'm hooked! No worries other than keeping track of when you need to get back on the bus. Lots of laughs, ideas and new friends are made on each trip.

Adventure #4 is coming up this fall and you have to chance to join me. Beth has arranged an exciting trip to Missouri Star for their Birthday Bash. Because she will already be there working AND because she's a little crazy, she put me in charge of keeping everyone in line on the way there and back!

Sneak peak of a birds and bees beauty. You can see this at our quilt show June 19 5-7pm and June 20 9am- 4pm. North Clay Elementary School. We have so talented quilters, you won't be disappointed.
