Help me decide how to best come back strong for you!

As a hopeful distraction to the current climate, I'd like to take on your current wardrobe/styling questions! Here is a tip for building a stylish look from items you likely already have in your closet. Black on black on black! This is one of my favorite ways to style an outfit for myself when I want a chic look for the day, but I don't want to have to think very hard about it. Here are some images of this look done well. I want to share a few trends that caught my eye while in Paris. It's always inspiring as a stylist to walk the streets of such a fashionable city and to be inspired by the looks the citizens are willing to embrace.

The first trend I was loving was the mini crossbody handbag. I loved the effortless look of a smaller bag and this is another functional trend, as it requires you to carry less with you. I think this is one trend I might try for myself.

I also noticed very few Parisians wearing jeans. Most often, they were wearing slacks, or more particularly culottes. I love the look of this, although this trend is a bit more tricky. If you are thinking of embracing this trend, I recommend being particular about the fit and length of the pants for your body type.

Lastly, a trend I have tried to ignore for some time now... the ugly sneaker trend. This was rampant in Paris, and somehow it made me dislike it less. When it Paris!

At the last minute I decided to share with you guys what I packed for Paris!

Every trip is different, but for Paris I wanted to keep it comfortable, casual, but with just a touch of easy breezy style. I also wanted to pack as light as possible.

When I pack, I normally pack in "outfits" so that I know what I'm wearing every day and I can just throw it on in the AM to spend as little time getting ready as possible to leave more time for exploring!

Outfit 1: This is my travel day outfit. I like to wear the coat, all of the accessories and the heaviest pair of shoes on the travel day. I also like to wear a cozy top.

Outfit 2: This day we will be on our feet all day so I choose a comfy dress with the same scarf and leather jacket as well as the same comfortable well-loved sneakers.
--For dinner out that evening all I'll need to do is switch up the shoes for a dressier look!

Outfit 3: Again, we plan to be on our feet all day so I'll layer this long cozy sweater over a long dress. If the sun makes an appearance, I can always throw the sweater over my shoulders instead.
--Again for dinner out that evening, I traded in the sneakers for a sleek pair of Everlane leather loafters.

Outfit 4: For our last day I choose a black on black on black look with a pop of color in the shoe.

I also always like to include an "extra" look in case there is a spill, or my daughter spills her ice cream on me (which of course will happen). For the additional look I choose a lightweight denim top and a pair of cozy leggings.

If you're making a short list of items to add to your spring/summer wardrobe, consider the white blazer! I know a blazer can be intimidating if you've never sported one before, but hear me out.

If your usual everyday wardrobe consists of your favorite jeans and well worn t-shirt, keep that up! Just throw on a white blazer, pair of sneakers and maybe a cool set of sunglasses and your entire look is just a bit more "polished" or "elevated." Or for an evening look, try a neutral heel.

I'm working on practicing more daily gratitude. For some reason, it seems to be easier to lean into what isn't going well for you in life instead of leaning into what is. I fully believe that what you put out into the universe is what you get back. Gratitude can be such a powerful tool for resetting the mind, and beginning to notice how much good there really is.

In anticipation of heading to Paris this weekend and trying to figure out how to pack light for Paris, I came across this great article about something called the 5 piece French wardrobe. This is essentially the Parisian take on the capsule wardrobe.

In this capsule wardrobe model, you purchase only 5 high quality items for your wardrobe per season. You already have a baseline wardrobe established so these five items would be just items that you love! And that would add a bit of fun to your seasonal looks.

I generally stand on fairly neutral ground in regard to trends. I prefer to recommend people dress in a way that is exciting and authentic to them, and if that's embracing the freshest trends, great! Personally I wait for trends that feel right for me, and this one is absolutely up my alley. And that's the sneaker with dresses and skirts trend!

I think dresses are highly underrated. The comfort, ease, and versatility of them makes them an under-explored item in your closet, in my opinion.

Now take an easy, breezy dress and pair it with a pair of comfortable sneakers.. what's not to love?!

This, this, ALL of this. I think this reminder is so powerful. Imagine a world where we all committed to total and complete authenticity! How refreshing would that be? I'm challenging myself to embrace this more fully and to take back the power to define myself through my own eyes, not through anyone else's.
