A brief history of Schaffer Partners Schaffer Partners, Inc. traces its beginning 85 years ago during the height of the Great Depression in 1932 when Louis L. Schaffer and Joseph Kargher began L.L. Schaffer, a company that sold premiums to retailers who wanted to attract customers with ‘earned gifts’ in exchange for their patronage. During the years, the organization has had many manifestations first operating as L.L. Schaffer then entering into the trading stamp business under the name of Family Stamps which marketed trading stamps throughout the Midwest and East coast of the U.S. It was during the boom years of trading stamps when Schaffer and Kargher started a new business enterprise in 1959 to motivate employees to do a better job with either their sales work or customer service. The new entity was first named Promotions For Industry (PFI). In 1989 the company changed its name to Partners For Incentives better reflecting it stated mission of marketing exclusively through third party distributors. Today, the parent company, Schaffer Partners, Inc. still maintains its initial thrust of offering performance improvement programs including employee recognition, sales or safety improvement as well as customer frequency programs. In 2002, Schaffer Partners was sold by founding Schaffer family and is today a woman owned business under the leadership of Maryanne Comotto
