MoCHA was honored to participate in the CMA Arts Career Fair at the Community Arts Center this Thursday, May 7 and sharing professional experiences through Yana Mikho-Misho’s background in art direction, curation, and artistic practice.

Huge thanks to the Community Arts team, Kobe Saunders as organizer, participating schools, and all young scholars from across Greater Cleveland for an inspiring and energetic day we shared. /

It was inspiring to share the creative “behind-the-scenes” of our work alongside professionals including Darnell-Jamal Lisby / the museum’s fashion curator, Jing Lauengco / the brand strategist, and many other amazing creatives. .jing

The popular student’ questions was:
“What does an art director do?”

An art director is someone who knows how to bring different elements together and make them work as a whole: exhibitions, workshops, residencies, public programs, collaborations, and visual storytelling.

Thank to the CMA CAC for creating spaces that inspire the next generation of artists, thinkers, and hopefully cultural leaders.

🔥MoCHA ✕ Zygote Press — a new chapter begins /

We are honored and excited to share: it’s official. MoCHA is moving and growing within our ongoing collaboration with Zygote Press.

Our Board of Directors has formalized this long, productive relationship, and we’re honored to announce that MoCHA will build out its new home on the second floor at 3907 Perkins Ave, Cleveland — inside Zygote’s vibrant new art hub.

This moment aligns with a milestone: nearly 30 years of Zygote Press supporting artists through access, education, and community. As they step into their new permanent home, we’re proud to be part of this next chapter — one rooted in collaboration, creativity, and expanded possibilities for programming together.

More space.
More connection.
More opportunities for artists, youth, and community.

Stay tuned for updates as we shape this new shared space — and thank you, as always, for being part of the MoCHA community and art energy.

Curatorial Statement by Thea Spittle

Edges of perception expands on the Akron Art Museum’s exhibition of Robert Glenn Ketchum’s photographs by placing two Northeast Ohio photographers, Barry Underwood and Jacob Koestler, in conversation with this critically acclaimed project by Ketchum. With the goal of capturing the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in all its facets as a means of environmental preservation, Ketchum created an honest depiction of a Midwestern topography. Underwood and Koestler’s recorded landscapes act as another kind of storytelling, one that pushes our sight lines to travel wider and closer to the horizon. As a group, these three photographers share an authentic curiosity for how to represent a moment in time within the edges of a frame.

Lauren Pearce Solo Exhibition “Wake Me Where I Lay” Opens September 27th, 2025. Presented by and

-I am captivated by the primal and whimsical duality of nature. Through my work, I seek to translate that wonder—to offer viewers a moment of pause. I want people to feel transported, to notice the minute, tender details, and to move slowly through the piece as they might through a forest: with awe, with softness, and with a sense of calm.

“Wake Me Where I Lay” is both a plea and a surrender. It marks a turning point in my journey—a point of stillness, rootedness, and awakening to the truth of who I am when the masks fall away.
