When I called her 12 years ago, I wasn't sure what to expect; I was just hopeful. We were opening up a new store and needed a seamstress badly...she answered a call that she normally doesn't, and unsure why she did; she never takes calls from a number she doesn’t recognize. She describes it today as divine intervention, that she was destined to be at On Duty Gear and I certainly agree.
She showed up for work this morning very early, just as she's done every workday for the past 12 years so she can talk with the team as they arrive for work. Not one to seek limelight or attention, she has gone about her day just as any other day except today is not any other day....it's her last workday before she officially retires.
For the past 12 years, she has spread love, laughter and been a spiritual adviser for us, helping us grow together as a team. Her skillset has been second to none, allowing the company to grow by taking on uniform tasks that we otherwise wouldn't have. For the past several weeks, she has worked as a mentor to our other seamstresses, making sure they are prepared to take over and ensuring a seamless transition.
Join me in wishing Rhonda the absolute best as she turns the page and starts the next chapter in retirement. Thank you again, Rhonda, for taking our call.
