Revenge of the 5th… with a little extra spice 🌶️

Because one day of this clearly wasn’t enough.

Some stories linger…
some characters return in new form…
and occasionally, the hunt takes an unexpected turn.

Proof that even the most serious among us can step into the story,
and maybe even enjoy it a little more than we expected. 😉

✨ The hunt doesn’t always stay on the light side… and today, that feels just right.

To all the people at Beulah Presbyterian Church who welcomed my husband and me with abundant kindness and warmth, our heartfelt gratitude and love!!! We are very pleased to be joining your community of worshipers and look forward to praising Our Lord together with joyful song!

And to anyone in the Quad Cities, IL who is interested in learning to play the organ for church, I am happy to to pass on what I have learned — my experience, my love of liturgy, and my passion for sacred music — in the hope of inspiring the next generation to serve their communities through music ministry.

A little something from the archives…

Long before this year’s coastal pause… there was this moment from 2017.

Proof that even in the middle of everyday life, a bit of imagination (plus a handmade costume and some ginormous cinnamon buns) can turn an ordinary day into something memorable.

Not all treasures come from a box…
some show up as laughter, shared moments, and stories you didn’t expect to keep. And yes—occasionally from a galaxy far, far away.

May the 4th be with you!

BTW - those Yoda cookies were amazing.

Built to Last. Chosen to Stay.

Earth Day often points us toward what’s next. But sometimes the better question is what still deserves a place in our lives.

This system has played through decades of moments, vinyl spinning, CDs loaded, DVDs shared on quiet nights. Still working. Still enjoyed. Still worth keeping.

There is value in caring for what already serves us. In repairing instead of replacing. In choosing substance over trend. Not everything meaningful needs an upgrade.

Some things earn their place over time.

What’s something you’ve kept for years and still use with pride?

A brief pause in the hunt.

Even treasure hunters step away now and then.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a short break and temporarily closing the online shop while spending time in Florida. It’s a natural pause, time to rest, reflect, and take in the quiet rhythm of the coast.

The search for meaningful pieces never truly stops; it simply slows, shifts, and finds new inspiration.

The shop will reopen soon, with fresh discoveries to share. And who knows… a few coastal finds may become part of the next treasure story.

Until then, you can still explore past finds and stay connected here: https://tuttuncommontreasures.com/

Spring has a way of inviting us to look again.

This week, we opened a few long-closed boxes, and inside were pieces we hadn’t seen in years. Old cookery. A ceramic insulator. Electronics from another era. Items once used every day, now rediscovered with fresh perspective.

There’s something different about rediscovery. It’s not just about what you find, it’s about what it means now. A memory, a purpose… or a question of whether it still belongs in your life today.

Some pieces will find new homes. Others may stay a while longer.

What about you? What have you come across lately that made you pause?

Poll Time:
When you come across old treasures, do you usually:
A) Keep it
B) Pass it along
C) Still deciding

Drop your answer (A, B, or C) in the comments!

Spring has a way of inviting us to look again.

As I sort through pieces gathered over the years - music, books, and handmade treasures - I’m reminded that what we once loved doesn’t lose its meaning; it simply waits for the right moment to be rediscovered.

Some of these will be finding new homes. Others still have more stories to tell.

There’s definitely something special about this time of year: it's not just in what we let go of, or what we create, but in what we rediscover along the way.

What Stayed With Me After Mystic

It has been nearly two weeks since my time at Mystic Vintage Co-op, and I keep coming back to the people I met just as much as the pieces I worked with.

Families, friends, and visitors of all ages came through, each drawn in for their own reasons. Yet there was something shared in that space—a quiet appreciation for objects with history, meaning, and presence.

One piece in particular holds that memory. A necklace created throughout the day, shaped one charm at a time by many different hands. Eclectic, layered, and somehow unified.

That piece reflects more than a moment. It reflects connection, creativity, and the kind of experience that stays with you long after it ends.

I’ve shared more about this story and what it meant to me on the website.
