The weight of the world is heavy.๐
I have been very much in my feels lately and doing a lot of self reflection.
For years and years I have been chasing this unrealistic expectation of my self to be "Super Woman". Always trying to do all the things and allow myself to be pulled in every which direction that people need me. I willingly took this unspoken responsibility on. Why you might ask? Because I'm a mom, I'm a wife, I'm a business owner, I'm an executive director for a non-profit, I am a person who loves genuinely without expectations of something in return, and most of all I'm an imperfect human being.
Please don't misunderstand my message here. I love all these things that I've been blessed to become and grow into!
But I've also lost sight of taking care of me in the midst of life's crazy chaos. ๐ต
Let me ask you this, do you find yourself spinning your wheels trying to do it all? Do you feel mentally and emotionally exhausted? Do you find yourself hoping and praying for a break or just a little "me time".
If the answer is yes, then I encourage you to have that hard talk with yourself and figure out what it is you need as an individual. Not as a parent, a spouse, or any other role you might fill in your day to day, but as you.
Ask yourself what is it that you need to feel fulfilled as an individual?
You may find the answer is simple. Maybe its allowing yourself to eat that cheeseburger & fries when you're feeling emotionally distressed, maybe its scheduling a massage, hair or nail appt for yourself. Maybe its taking an uninterrupted bubble bath a few times a week, or starting a new skin or work out routine, etc?
Whatever your self care looks like is fine, as long as your taking the steps to take care of you and bring yourself joy and fulfillment.
You will spend more time in this life with yourself than anyone else in this world. Make it count! Feed your soul and prioritize taking care of you because you alone can't bear the weight of the world forever. Trust me I've been trying for far to long.
Today I unapologetically made the decision to eat that burger and fries. What do you choose to do for self care?
