Hartrelic Custom Sewing, Design, Costuming, Quilting and Alterations. I began sewing when I was about 8 years old. by correspondence. The name Hartrelic chose me.

Through my younger years I participated in a variety of 4-H projects including Sew & Show and took a fashion design course in H.S. I graduated from Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne Indiana in 2004 with a BA in Theater (emphasis costume design). Courses I took include Script Analysis, Period Styles, Costume Rendering, Pattern Drafting & Construction. I have since designed and constructed shows

at Wartburg College, Waverly IA, Indiana Purdue, Fort Wayne IN, Northrop H.S. Fort Wayne IN, Starting Gate Productions, St. Paul MN, Bottineau Community Theater, Bottineau ND, High Plains Theater, Dickinson ND and Dickinson State University, Dickinson ND. I also worked as an alterations specialist for David's Bridal in Ft Wayne IN and in Maple Grove MN. The things that inspire me to work on costumes are the history involved, the visual artistry and working with textiles. All of these areas have interested me in different ways throughout my life and in college I found them coming together in the study of costume design for theater. It is fascinating to me how closely fashion, beauty and art are related in history, they very much inform each other in use of color, shape and themes. I also enjoy working with fabric in many other forms such as millinery, crafting and quilting. When mom and I were setting up an ebay account several years ago we had chosen a name, don't even remember what it was now, but it was taken. So we had a second choice and a third, which were all taken. On a whim I said, "put in Hartrelic" and it worked! Since then I have thought about the name and come to realize how meaningful it is. Sewing, designing and creating is part of who I am. It is a relic of my family heritage to create and it is inseparable from my heart.

French designer Sylvie Facon is known for her intricated fairy tale–like dresses. Facon’s attention to detail would steal any catwalk as she manages to create gowns that at first might look like a work of fiction. These out of this world dresses are crafted from the spines of old books.
