Let’s address this kind of issue from a small business perspective for this particular customer since they decided to make a negative public post without first attempting to discuss things prior with the business. We redacted the profile photo and the name of said customer.
You absolutely had the right to not accept any of the offers, mind you every time someone drops off they have four options.
1. one cash on the spot
2. Trade for store credit
3. Consignment
4. Decline all options and take your items
You VOLUNTARILY accepted the offer which you are unhappy with-although you had store credit options and consignment options, and if that still didn’t work for you, you could’ve taken your items and gone to several of the other local resale shops with them or sold them on any other resale platform. But instead of choosing to do any of those, instead, YOU CHOSE TO ACCEPT THE OFFER and then complain about how you didn’t feel it was acceptable-and then blast our business publicly because you feel that your offer was not acceptable after you accepted it.
If you are not happy with your offer, please feel free to come pick your items up and return the $20. We would love to discuss and explain to you why your offer was only $20 instead of whatever you thought might be more acceptable when the brands of clothing were not high-end or boutique.
Whether it was our store or OUAC or Yours Truly or Plato’s, or any other local resale shops-we can probably speak for them as well with this situation because it happens all the time-in the future, maybe have a little bit more etiquette when you’re not satisfied with sales or service from any business you patronage and instead of blasting them all over social media, maybe speak to someone in charge who can make changes or who can help rectify the situation.
It’s not fair for any business to have to deal with this kind of thing-being put in a negative position on a public platform-after the fact when a customer has VOLUNTARILY accepted terms and walked out the door without registering any concerns or complaints.
