I love finding ways to bring a bit of warmth into my daily routines, so I decided to craft a custom wrap for my morning coffee jar. I laser-engraved rich leather with our lake house location, which pairs beautifully with the amber glass and acacia lid. I am using it to store my ground coffee, but it would look just as beautiful holding whole beans on the counter. To make it practical, I added magnetic snaps in the back so the leather easily pulls away whenever the jar needs a quick wash.

Order for a customer...Richardson Multicam BLACK Tactical Leather Patch Cap Hat with a laser engraved American Flag and the text “In God We Trust”. Used the STAHLS’ | DTF • Patches • Heat Press Tips equipment (Hotronix 360 IQ Hat Press and Hotronix Fusion IQ) to apply the Hydbond® Inc. adhesive to the leather and to apply the patch to the cap, and the Epilog Laser to laser engrave the Hermann Oak Expedition 1881 patches. We cut out the patches using steel dies rather than laser cut the leather for good reason. This is our normal process to apply the leather patches to the caps.

Custom hat order for an Air Force veteran with a history. 🇺🇸 One celebrates America’s 1776–2026 Semiquincentennial with a Hermann Oak leather flag patch. The other honors a veteran’s time in the 405th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, maintaining F-15 fighter guns and missile pylons. It’s a pleasure to work on this for a veteran. Both patches use hydbond adhesive and were applied using the Stahl's heat and hat presses. Done in-house.

Big things are headed to the workshop! 🛠️

I just returned from visiting the incredible team at MJ Foley Co. in Michigan, and I’m so grateful for the expertise of Luke Westbrook (in photo with me) and Jamie Oliver. We’ve spent the last few months collaborating on a custom configuration for the Duerkopp (“Durkopp”) Adler 669-180010, and it is finally ready for shipment! I’m so glad I could stop in to meet the team and go over the new machine in person before it heads our way.

For the last year and a half, I’ve tested several manual binders, but none of them delivered the meaningful quality I strive for. This machine is truly different—with its oscillating binder arm and synchronized movement, the binder and presser foot work in perfect harmony.

A huge thanks also to Tennessee Attachments for crafting a custom binder to meet our specifications. Investing in the right tools is what allows us to keep our focus on quality and intentional design. I can’t wait to get this running in the shop!

MJ Foley Co - 100+ years (established in 1922) of serving the sewing machine industry. This is ‘hands-down’ a phenomenal company to do business with.
