Gallant Fox, the second Triple Crown Winner (1930). That year the Preakness was ran 8 days before The Kentucky Derby. This arrangement was not unusual; from 1923 to 1931, the Preakness was often held before the Derby. This order wasn’t standardized until 1932 when the races were scheduled in their now-familiar order: the Kentucky Derby first, followed by the Preakness, and then the Belmont Stakes.
Gallant Fox was a bay c**t by Sir Gallahad - Marguerite by Celt.

First Triple Crown winner Sir Barton. A son of Star Shoot and Lady Sterling by Hanover. Won the 1919 Triple Crown. Was named Horse of The Year and Champion Three Year Old, the same year. At the age of 4 set a NWR for 1 3/16 miles at Belmont and a NTR for 1 1/4 miles at Saratoga. Inducted to the Racing Hall of Fame in 1957.
