Originally released in 1993, "New Life" returns in a beautifully remastered edition, showcasing a pivotal chapter in Solstice's history. At the time, only founder Andy Glass and drummer Peter Hemsley were part of the lineup, yet the album already captured the unmistakable spirit that has made Solstice one of the most uplifting and distinctive bands in progressive rock.

Blending melodic neo-prog, folk rock and subtle new age influences, "New Life" radiates warmth, optimism and effortless musicality. Highlights such as the epic Guardian perfectly illustrate the band's signature sound, combining soaring vocal harmonies, exquisite violin passages and inspired guitar work. The atmospheric instrumental The Sea offers a moment of pure serenity, while the title track and Pathways bring a more energetic edge.

Remarkably, the album sounds every bit as fresh and vibrant today as it did over three decades ago. The remaster enhances its rich, airy production without losing any of its original charm. This new edition also includes three live recordings from 2023 and 2026, demonstrating just how timeless these compositions remain on stage.

A superb remaster of a classic Solstice album, "New Life" is an essential release for long-time fans and an ideal introduction to the band's early years.

Formed in 1980 in Milton Keynes UK, Solstice is a progressive folk-rock band led by Andy Glass, the band’s sole remaining founding member. Their music is characterised by progressive rock elements, heavy folk, and new age touches. The band has undergone several lineup changes but have maintained a...

We've got a little secret for our Big Big Train fans! 🤫

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for Team Train with the release of "Time & Tide: The Songs Of Big Big Train", maybe a fun little video, and a weekly newsletter that will contain the information we've been given the ok to sneak out to you today.

Rest assured this is not fake news. The official word will come down from the band tomorrow as soon as Management and The Station Master have a moment to catch their breaths and ice their fingers.

What are we talking about?

IT'S A RELEASE DAY!!

"White Shores", the fifth studio album by Swiss post-rock band hubris. is out day.

Following four albums rooted in Greek mythology, composer and founder Jonathan Hohl turns to another profound source of inspiration: J.R.R. Tolkien and more specifically his exploration of mortality and immortality.

The elves, in Tolkien’s legendarium, refer to death as the “Gift of Men.” They regard mortality not as a curse, but as a unique gift granted to humankind. This paradox offers a striking alternative to the Western perception of death as purely tragic, presenting it instead as coveted and desirable. In the wake of the passing of Jonathan’s grandfather, this idea became the emotional and conceptual foundation of "White Shores".

NEW PRE-ORDER ALERT!!

Resistor has announced their 8th studio album "Beyond" will be released October 9, 2026.

Three tracks, forty-four minutes, one continuous arc. Beyond is Resistor’s first album since 2023’s Illuminator, and the most ambitious record the band has made: an opening salute to the music that started it all, a wordless flight in the middle, and a twenty-four minute title suite that follows one consciousness out past the edge of itself and back again.

Nostalgia opens with the windows down and the signal cranked up, thirteen minutes of open homage to the records that made these four musicians pick up instruments in the first place. Antares answers it without a single word of lyric, Rob Winslow’s bass moving under a wordless vocal line. Beyond takes the entire second half of the album, travelling from a valley of wildflowers through an instrumental passage the band calls "The Experience" and into a three-voice fugue, before waking back on a bedroom floor with the walls still standing and everything changed.

Nineteen years of standing rehearsals sit behind these three songs. Resistor is a band of friends first workshopping every piece together long before anyone records a note, then tracking it instrument by instrument, with Steve Unruh in the room for every drum session so he and Barry Farrands could trade ideas as the takes went down. Don Schiff’s NS/Stick threads through both Nostalgia and Beyond and transforms them; his artistic stamp is all over this record. Mixed and mastered by Unruh.

NEW PRE-ORDER ALERT!!

Sonus Umbra will release their 9th studio album "Liminality" on October 9, 2026.

"Liminality" is what happens when a composer is handed a deadline by his own body. Sonus Umbra founder and bassist Luis Nasser was diagnosed with a brain tumor gnarly enough that it took two surgeries to remove. Somewhere in the ICU, wracked in pain and facing what he calls his quantum ex*****on. He was asked a question by the void: Death or life?

He chose life. Then came the hallucinations, and with them the music. “My brain became an antenna,” Nasser writes, and he scribbled what it received onto hospital napkins as fast as he could, before it faded like the memory of a dream. He walked out of the hospital with a stack of napkins, no story, and a covenant he had no idea how to honor.

The clarity came later, on a night walk through Parque España in Mexico City, in conversation with Rosa María Sánchez García, to whom the album is dedicated. She listened to the ICU story and gave it back to him in the form of a mirror. What had been an alien language became an image he could see and use: two chapters, seven pieces, one passage through the threshold.

Chapter 1 opens in the ward, moves through the self-devouring, arrives at the choice itself, and dissolves into instrumental hallucination. Chapter 2 is the crossing: a three-part suite that walks the synapse maze, reframes pain as teacher rather than monster, and comes out the other side after years that felt like falling in a hole in a hole in a hole…

NEW PRE-ORDER!!

Strawbs "Grave New World Live" will be released on October 23 - a one-time, limited pressing on 180g Red LP only.

In developing Strawbs 50th Anniversary in 2019, David decided that the programme should include the only live performance of the album. As such, he invited Wesley Stace to collaborate with him in writing a narration for this ‘theatrical performance’.

John Ford and Blue Weaver, both of whom had performed on the original album, were invited to take part. They were joined by Wesley Stace, Eric Bazilian (of the Ho***rs), Tony Fernandez, Brian Willoughby and Cathryn Craig. With only an afternoon’s rehearsal, the performance took place on the early evening of April 27.

In addition to the numbers that David sang, and Wesley’s narration, John Ford sang "Heavy Disguise" and Wesley performed "The Flower and the Young Man".

David’s ill health, together with COVID-19, meant that it wasn’t possible for Grave New World Live to be completed as soon as he would have wished. Work had already been started by Larry Fast, a pioneer in electronic music production, and record producer Blue Weaver, before David’s death in July 2025. In accordance with his wishes, this recording, on vinyl like the original, is now presented as the first major work from the 50th Anniversary. Unlike many “live” albums, however, the songs are heard as they were performed.
