I just finished my 16th year of teaching and am looking forward to a fun summer! This also means that I now have some extra time, and I am ready to create special keepsakes for you! 🧸 Weighted Bear 🧸
I have had a lot of people ask me about weighted bears lately. I completed my first weighted bear this week. It is a Mother’s Day gift from a husband for his wife’s very first Mother’s Day. This bear is made from their daughter‘s clothes and includes a personalized tag: one side with the baby’s name, birthday, weight, and length, and the other side with a special message.

🧵🪡For those of you who don’t know, I am a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher (the modern day Home Ec). FCS is not just cooking and sewing - it is a lot more. I teach Personal Finance, Career Preparation, Child Development, Nutrition and Health, Family Relations, and more. But we still do teach sewing skills too! These are a few projects that my students have recently made. It’s so fun to see them learn a new skill and be challenged by it. I am glad that I can continue to pass on the art of sewing. 🧵 🪡
