Friendsgiving. Thanksgiving. Classroomgiving. Some call it a busy month. I call it four excuses for a new outfit.

Look 1 is for the friend who makes you take your shoes off at the door. Look 2 takes you from the workday to the classroom party. Look 3 is for dinner at your well-traveled girlfriend’s house. And Look 4? Thanksgiving morning. Football on, kids in the yard, nowhere else you need to be.

Unpopular opinion: I hate cool weather.

There. I said it. Bundling up is not my idea of a good time, and I refuse to look like a sleeping bag all season.

So here’s how I stay cute and stay warm:

1. Thin layers, not one big one. A tank or tee under a knit does more than a chunky sweater alone.
2. An open neckline with a necklace. A V-neck lets the layers show, and the chain keeps it looking like you tried.
3. A cardigan as the third layer. On, off, over your shoulders, depending on the room.
4. One big piece at a time. Roomy knit on top, clean line on the bottom.
5. A cap. Bad hair and cold ears, handled.
6. A bag with some texture. Shearling does a lot of the work.

Cool weather is annoying. Looking cute in it doesn’t have to be.

I’ll say it. I hate cold weather.

Anything under 65 and I start questioning my life choices. But it’s coming whether I agree or not, so I made a plan.
