IMO a really great question. This is paraphrased from an actual email chat with a long time customer. If you have any questions please never hesitate to reach out!

Discreture is a small, independently owned brand with no investors and no real marketing budget, so up until now our reach has been entirely grassroots. While I’m sooo grateful for people like you who found me early and organically, it also limits how many people we can educate and reach. From the beginning, I chose to start an underwear brand very intentionally; I truly believe secondhand shopping is the most sustainable option for shopping, but underwear is one of the few categories that can’t be thrifted. I saw a big gap in the market for underwear that is ethical, size inclusive, but cute, sexy, and still affordable. I’m biased, but I don’t see anyone else checking all these boxes, so I am very proud of what I created and think it’s important to reach a category of people who maybe never considered seeking out Fair Trade or natural fiber brands.

While I wish Amazon executed all practices with the same level of detail that we do, my hope is that this helps introduce more people to better alternatives than synthetic underwear and gives me a platform to spread more education on what led me to have such strong values for the brand in the first place. Not unrelated, I am currently working on writing a “Sustainable Fashion Field Guide” a short web book that will help anyone who discovers it look at fashion through a more sustainable lense. I am hopeful the opportunity to sell underwear in WF will give my web book exposure and a chance to share this knowledge with people who might have a strict filter for their food, but not their fashion.
