Our newest creation: a battle-skirt-inspired front panel.

Layered, distressed, a little rugged and made for the person who doesn’t want their garb to look like everyone else’s.

Is it historically accurate? Nope. Is it inspired by history, fantasy, and that little voice that says “make it cooler”? Absolutely.

A question we get all the time is, “What do you guys do during the week?”

Honestly, it’s a valid question.

After 20 hours of faire being open over the weekend, a minimum 6-hour drive, 10+ hours of setup, restocking and getting ready (and that’s if the structures are already up)… Monday rolls around and the work doesn’t exactly stop.

There are warehouse days, endless calls with suppliers, meetings with other artisans, our weekly drop-ins with our lovely seamstress, fabric and supply runs, designing, creating, building and getting ready to do it all over again.

And today was just a typical Tuesday:

We made pouches (thanks for the help, Mimi! ❤️), dyed tunics, made new decorations (cutting, staining, building), Jay worked on shields and fur mantels, we made two separate supply runs, a bank , AND squeezed in a cardboard drop-off and gym time.

All while running a business, a household and raising a family somewhere in between.

So when people ask, “What do you do during the week?”

The answer is pretty simple:

The weekends are when you get to see Vildnfri.

All fun aside, Tasha may not be Ben or Eion, she sure did cook one heck of a bird this weekend.

And just in time because Viking Weekend is coming to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire September 5th & 6th!

Stop by our encampment, smell whatever we've got cooking over the fire, sit in one of our many chairs, and enjoy the vibes. And if that doesn't entice you… the tent with Viking garb and gear probably will..

The weekend may not technically be about us… but we're Vikings and our job is Wild and Free, so we're going to pretend it is.

We can't wait to fill the camp with our faire friends and family. Come see what Ben's cooking up, shop the wares, and get a little wild & free with us.

Sometimes the shield just chooses its Viking.

This one happened to match his kilt perfectly… and judging by that smile, it was a pretty easy sale.

Our shields are handcrafted by J as fully functional 1:1 Viking shield replicas pine planks, hand-forged iron nails and boss, cowhide-wrapped grip, and rawhide edging that shrinks as it dries to tension the shield together.

Over 700 hammer strikes go into every shield.

Want one that matches your own garb? Custom orders are available. Bring us your idea and we’ll build something worthy of carrying into battle or at least around the faire.

Throwback from years ago to the very first photoshoot Jay and Tosh ever did together...

This is two people who had absolutely no idea where life would take them, what they would build, or how much they would grow along the way.

Let this be your reminder that a lot can change when you’re open to it. Sometimes the life you never saw coming becomes the one you couldn’t imagine living without.

People wonder what we do on the days we’re not at Faire…

Well, Jay works while Tasha harasses him.

In all reality, we love what we do. Somehow we traded a 40-hour work week working for the man for a 100-hour work week working for ourselves… and we wouldn’t trade it back.

We build, paint, sew, design, repair, pack, unpack, answer messages, chase wild ideas and occasionally remember we’re supposed to sleep.

There’s a whole lot of work that happens before you ever see us at Faire.

Turns out being Wild & Free is a full-time job with unpaid overtime 🤪.
